I own a 2015 GT Stock..I've always usually gas up with 93 octane Gas. With Gas prices soaring out of sight,,$5.30 a gallon for 93 octane,,What would members on this site lower ther Octane number for their car..??

Don’t complain too much… shell v power (99 RON / 93 AKI) is Ā£1.89 a litre here, so $9 / US gallon in your money…
I have considered using regular E10 (95 RON / 90 AKI) at £1.75 litre for long distance motorway trips where you burn through a tank sitting at a steady speed, not putting any strain on the engine, and saving the higher octane fuel for fun drives.

Modify with a poll at the top?

If I HAD to go lower, I personally would never go lower than what the owner's manual says.

Another caveat mentioned by members before: always use a "top tier" provider; their gas is graded to a certain rating. Web sites lists top tier makers.

91 where I live is $5 a gallon.

Lol. $5 gallon would be a dream!

I paid $2.41 per liter for PetroCanada 94 octane yesterday. So basically $9.16 per US gallon or over $11 per imperial gallon. Struggle is real!

I don’t have a choice. Can’t run less than 91 when pushing 650whp.

Lol same. With the prices up here you'd think we're putting in rocket fuel.

This has been asked and answered a thousand times on here but lets go one more time.

You can use 87. It is the ā€œminimumā€ that Ford says you can use. It will cost some performance and possibly some MPG’s. It might also cause knocking in hot humid weather.

89 might be the sweet spot but you have to try it.

91/93 will be the best and what Ford uses for HP and MPG ratings.

I see you are in NJ. The only state that allows non members to buy from Costco. 93 octane and top tier. Find one and use it.

This was the Costco I used when I lived in NJ.

so it’s funny, i started that thread about using 87 in a GT and it started a war lol….but honestly, i started with 87 back in november, and it wasn’t until maybe dec-jan-feb that i started trying 89, 91, 93, and then did 93 until this surge, up until maybe 3-4 tanks ago. honestly it’s like 5.30 or something for 93 here at shell, so i stopped. i started using shell 87, which from what i read, is better than like Wawa 87, which would be more convenient but whatever.

so i filled a little over 3/4 tank yest with shell 87, and then had it in sport mode. i always thought everyone was just bsing that 93 makes the car that much faster feeling…but wow. i felt it holding back in sport mode at lower throttle, whereas with 89 to 93, the response was slightly better than 87. pretty crazy, but unfortunately i’ll just use 87 and sport mode for now with these absurd prices that are being hiked for no reason whatsoever. gotta love the world!

I would not recommend using sport mode with 87. It’s going to pull to much timing. Economy/ performance is a trade off. Decide which is more important and go from there.

By the way, I used Wawa premium if I couldn't get to Costco. It isn’t top tier but I never had an issue.

That was a good convo starter thread man... i filled up yesterday at a quick check, not sure what "tier" gas that is but 93 was 5.23/g. sucked but i left there banging 1,2,3 and it felt great :)

its all geo political BS around the world taking blame, theres plenty of oil / reserves....

wow thats interesting. i did quick check for a while too. i just do shell bc i have that 5 cents off a gallon thing for shell rewards for like 3 months lol. 4.70 for 87 yesterday.

no knock even in sport mode, and i def feel timing is retarded with 87 compared to 93 in it as well, but it isn’t knocking so that’s good lol
