I agree. I got excited about it and I'm still interested, but I'm not a buyer unless some things change.

- no manual, no purchase for me.
-I still hate the lift off roof and hope it's better than the version in the C7. Not sure I will get over this one.
-Direct injection only, no dual injection in a flag ship product? Why cheap out like this?
Take rate for manual transmission Corvettes appears very low, from autotrader:

Uh huh, 50% stiffer. But yet they had trouble with the glass breaking during testing. I never trust those chassis stiffness marketing statements, because they never provide the test details.
To that my understanding was bad castings.

GM pumps out around 30-40k corvettes per year.

It will be unique for about 1 day.
Doesn't matter, it's something new and "exciting". Ppl will ride on the hype for along time.

When everyone finds out the insurance rates for a mid engine supercar I think sales will be much lower.
No way the thing is fiberglass, easy to repair. It's the exotic materials and enormous part markups that makes mid engines hard to insure. Porsche customers have no issues and they pump out just as many mid engines cars per year

Yeah, mid engine has absolutely nothing to do with insurance rates. It's about risk, valuation, and demographics. Explain an MR2 then. Think those insurance rates were stupid high?

Die hard mustang fan boi, count me in with the C8. I loooove that GM had the balls to bring a mid engine for the masses. Wish Ford would have done it... too bad they missed that boat. I'll be picking up a Z06 in '20 or '21. I can wait... hell, I waited 4 years to hear Ford was even bringing a GT500 but alas, it came to late. IMO there is a better option now and I dont give a rip if they build a zillion of them, that just means lots of sore egos is all. Give me a customized C8 every day and two times on Sunday. I wish the GT500 well, I'm sure I'll see them around.. I'm keeping my 350R cause it has attitude and is a fun driver. I'm not sure the GT500 will rake in the same accolades as the 350 did... it's got its work cut out for it.

Just for clarification, the ‘under 3 second 0 to 60’ will NOT be the ‘under 60k’. They specifically state that’s only doable with the Z51 package which is a fully loaded track package, no way in hell thats not touching close to 70k already before taxes.

I too like the 3 quarter view of the C8, and to say we got an American mid-engine sports car that can rival Italian ones with a pushrod engine is huge. Rear end looks too much like a camaro and the HVAC controls look goofy, but other than that, it’s a good looker!
Reminds me of the bulls&t 2018 Mustang GT advertising, "0-60 in under 4 seconds" which meant only with the A10 PP and those Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. I'm pretty sure the base C8 can do those numbers without the Z51 package though, just need to ditch those all season Goodyears.

I think the gearing is more aggressive on the Z51. So no, the base won't do it.

Shouldn't affect the GT500 pricing. I feel like we are comparing apples to oranges when we compare the C8 and the GT500.

That sounds very definitive..It would have to be very different.
I've logged sub 4 sec 0-60 times on my 2018 Mustang GT A10 with sticky tires and 3.15 gears.
I think a base C8 could match the Z51, without spending another 10k, i.e. with the right tires, but, no one knows for sure, yet.
