The C8 is not going to affect GT500 pricing.
Not initially, but with 5000 GT500s for 2020, I think the ADMs in most markets will cool off quickly after they hit dealers. The C8 is going to pull a lot of the got to have the latest hot car crowd out of the GT500 buyers market. These also tend to be the folks that pay ADMs freeing up more cars for actual Mustang fans.

Maybe...but honestly I really don't know. Someone who's looking to dump 95K on a muscle car I'm betting isn't directly cross shopping a 65K super coupe. (Note I said super coupe, not super car :sunglasses: )

So far this thread has been saner than the other ones but the trolls have found it yet so it'll be going out of control shortly.

When you're a performance car fan you cross-shop. Heck, I did and it's why I'm in a Vette at the moment after owning eight Mustangs over the last ten years. My intent is to get back into a GT500 at some point and maybe pick up a Z06 C8 Vette in its second year.

Honestly, they should just dump that whole versus section and let those threads live in the respective models' section.

Yeah i don't think it will have too much impact on pricing, maybe Adms a little more. However It has curbed my 'desire/urgency/stress' of buying this GT500, i mean i am 110% committed to the GT500 but not sure my dealer is, so i am tired of the stress and worry so i am letting it play out as it will, hopefully my dealer isn't a douche. If the GT500 doesn't work out, i will then just work the system till i have a GT500 or Z06? C8 whichever I can get 1st without getting raped. There is no DENYING the C8, certainly the Z06 variant, will CRUSH the GT500, only time will tell if the C8 supercar look will wear well. I for one think it looks amazing, but am afraid of the jean shorts, mullets, long socks and white shoes it may bring.....when the landscape gets flooded with c8 supercars they may not be so super anymore and make the GT500 stand out that much more.

When everyone finds out the insurance rates for a mid engine supercar I think sales will be much lower.
I was pleasantly surprised that as a male near 40 with a fairly clean driving record (1 accident 8 years ago with no tickets) the GT500 is projected to cost me about $700/yr when bundled with my other insurance. This is in Minnesota which has some of the highest insurance rates due to no fault insurance and high PIP caps.

I can’t imagine what things would be like in Michigan though. I used to pay over a thousand per year for my pieces of shit for just basic coverage.

I'd been regretting selling my GT350 as I ended up being not willing to pay the price for the GT500. The C8 has made me glad that I got out when I did.

Corvettes don't sell for sticker, not even close. A C7 Z51 2LT with PTM (Magneride), Nav and PDR is over 72K, but can routinely be had for 10K less. If you pay sticker for a Corvette you're doing it wrong. This applies to the Stingray, Grand Sport, Z06, etc...

I expect that a year from now you'll be able to pick up a Z51 equipped C8 with PTM, nav, etc... in the mid 60's. Most likely less than a GT350 and certainly less than a GT500.

I am a die hard Mustang guy, but this car is winning me over. I want a GT500, but I'm no longer willing to pay a premium price for a vehicle built to the same standard as a 20K ecoboost. It's just not worth it.

I love the c8 in a sense that I feel better about an msrp deal being closer, and hopefully one of the 3 FP dealers in Ontario Canada will call for a Msrp deal sooner than later now!

Other wise I still feel the c7 looks better to me, but that could change once they are on the road more. The rear of the c8 is a mess with the Camaro ish lights. VMP did a beauty photoshop with ‘19 tail lights and quad pipe. Looked much better.

Like some, I’ve been a Mustang guy since I bought my first at 16. It’s going to be the s550 gt500, I just don’t know when...

I think it'll affect the used GT500 market severely. To that point, I'm kinda wondering myself if I should wait a bit and see if a "Grand Sport" or such sub model releases. That would be the sweet spot for me in terms of price and performance.

I could not see myself seriously considering a GT500 over a Z51 C8.

Closer to 20 - 30 on average but yes. There's more Corvettes produced in a year on average than GT350's exist.
Well, I did quick Google and that's what Corvette site said for every MY C7 except for 2018. Closer to 30-40k units

As someone who vows to never give up my R but still looking to add another performance car to the shed, the GT500 with ADM is simply a NO GO but a modestly optioned C8 Z51 could very well be. I'm positive I can get the Suppliers Discount after 6 months as well. Something that'll never happen with the GT500.

The one main consideration I would have is head room. If the C8 has 1 inch more head room than the C7, I might consider one at some point (if they also add a manual transmission). If it has 1 inch less, probably not. If it stays the same it will depend on other factors.

I have a question for the GT350 owners that are interested in a GT500. Why not sc your 350? Fantastic engine, real Tremec 6 speed, magneride, etc. You would have the best of all worlds wouldn't you? And very unique with the cross plane crankshaft and forged pistons.
