Do you have any pictures that you could share with regards to the poke you are talking about in the rear?
Iā€™ve got the 19ā€ Apex forged wheels on my GT350, 11.5ā€ wide, ET56. Am running 315/30 Continental ExtremeContact Force tires, which are a pretty beefy tire. Here are a few photos.

I've really been thinking of getting a set of 19x11" Apex wheels myself, as I intend to track the car, but haven't pulled the trigger since I also saw the 20" offering. The square setup doesn't require usage of any wheel spacers, correct?

good Lord that is schexiā€¦but I already need to cross into oncoming traffic at a 60* angle to get into the driveway at work, i cringe at the thought of trying any lower šŸ˜‚

your 350 looks awesome! what offset are you running on front and rear? Thanks.
Not exactly sure since I bought these as a new takeoff set directly from Vossen. I believe they are close to stock offsets. I will have them off for a cleaning soon so I will figure out the offsets.

If you are marginal now then you will scrape for sure!! Ford says they are 3/4 inch lower but I think they are closer to 1 inch lower.

Incorrect. Since most wheels in a square size would have the same offset for all four, you will need spacers in the front. Obviously if you had wheels made with different offsets, you wouldnā€™t need spacers, but then you negate why most want a square set upā€”to rotate.

Exactly. For my square setup with 11.5ā€ wide wheels, I needed GT350R front hubs (extended studs would have worked also with my existing hubs, because I just needed longer studs, but they were out of stock everywhere) and 31mm spacers. Apex wheels has a great fitment guide for each of regular and Shelby S550s that lays out what you need to make the fitments work.

I now wish I'd have gone 20" wheels.

At the time, I was concerned about max performance so I went with 19". The tire offerings at 20" just seem to be better and for whatever reason, the tire community doesn't want to offer fitments that would keep lowered GT350's from being too low. Some of the tire sizes only come in 30 series profile which results in a low 26 or even high 25" overall diameter.

20" wheels are heavier and also will have more rotational inertia (both the wheel itself and the tire) so it's more unsprung weight and saps a little more drivetrain loss and requires more brake effort,

But after rocking 19" on lowering springs, the struggle is real. The car was a scrape concern before, now it's borderline impractical for taking to a lot of places. Even routine speed bumps are a major concern now.

Dude, I am in the exact same boat. I'm not convinced I like the 20" better (looks), but I did choose 19" based on performance. i wante the R size 30's. There's no tire dia on a 20" that doesn't increase the overall dia over a 19", thus raising final drive ration. Miniscule, I agree, but still a presence.

I have been on the fence for a long time struggling with the decision to lower with FP springs, because it looks amazing. My driveway is already a struggle that cannot be taken straight on, and I have the rubber curb fillers between the driveway and street.

I was concerned with swapping out the lightweight carbon wheels on my 350R for heavier 20s and went through an ordeal with 2 other well-known wheel companies sending me wheels that were 15-20% heavier than they promised me over and over (i.e. both promised 20x11 ET24 fronts in their lightest/strongest styles at 21-22 lbs but they came in at ~26lbs). Even the 3rd company sent me wheels that were heavier than promised but they were awesome about it, took them back, then re-cut them - they came in at the weight we discussed. With the GT500 spec PS4S front and rear on my 20x11 ET24 F and 20x11.5R ET61 R wheels, each corner is about 7lbs heavier than OE and, combined with the inch taller tires, I definitely noticed a slight change in steering and acceleration in the first few minutes of driving with them However, that went away after about 5 minutes and I have never looked back.

If I were to spend money on 20s right now, I would be very tempted to go with those newer magnesium Litespeed wheels. I believe than the 20s would weigh less than 20lbs each.
