True ... but if they don't work correctly they can cause valve train ticking just like old fashioned "hydraulic lifters".
Yep, but more pronounced since they're up top instead of buried in the cylinder block. And the sound is the cam follower smacking the cam because it's out of control.

Had a last adjuster go bad on my '79 which quickly wiped out the cam and it made a hell of a racket, especially toward the end. Like no lifter noise I've ever heard....

Here's some interesting talk. Is the 2014 GT with "Track Pack" have any different Coyote 5.0 than the 2015 GTs? They are recommending 5W-50 Motorcraft full synthetic for that Coyote.

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/3770206/1

Interesting, but much like some of the other chatter on that thread I'm not risking putting 5w50 into my car as it does not meet Ford's spec. I have to check the spec but I think ford allows 5w30 in which case I will try a synthetic blend. I need to do some homework on that.

Based on my recent customer service experience highlighted in this thread I'm sure Ford already has a bead on this car and half the dealerships around here know of me. Looks like an exhaust and body mods are the only thing this car will be getting no more Forced induction like I had planned.

Super let down Ford.

how long did you wait until your first oil change, and what oil/filter did you use astolt?

I changed the oil later than I wanted (was aiming for 1500) but got it done at 2300ish.

I took it to the dealer and had them do it for this exact reasoning thinking it would buy me some wiggle room incase the tick developed...should have done it myself.

They used the following per the print out:
Installed AA5Z 6714 A: Filter ASY - Oil (1)
Installed XO 5W20 QFS: MOTORCRAFT SAE 5W20 API GF (8qts)

I will be changing the oil this weekend to a 5w20 syn blend with the same filter priming it first. hoping the heavier syn blend will help, and if not exploring the ability to go to 5w30 syn blend.

I took mine to the dealer for the first oil change for this reason as well (of course first one is free). I will be changing it myself from here on out but...

Had them change it at 1800 miles. SB/Motorcraft Filter. No tick.....unless it developes it...no tick at all yet.

I just started it up to drive home and I have seemingly picked up a chugging sound at idle that doesn't sound like it used to. Almost sounds like she's cammed....ugh

I don't hear the distinct "tick, tick, tick ..." in that video like I've heard in others. There will be some noise from the exhaust manifolds (which are tubes like aftermarket headers), etc while running. What I hear in the video above sounds more normal than not.

Ruby, fortunately mine does not sound As bad as that yet but it sounds like it's chugging on a random order but not quite as distinct as yours such as when throttle is applied.

To make things worse as soon as I pulled into the gym I went to kick in the clutch and hit the brakes the freaking car let out a huge freight train whine and struggled to slow. I thought for sure I hit someone. Did a circle and tried to hit the brakes again and low and behold the front left brake is acting up screaming like a banshee and stuttering on stopping.

This God damn car now just became unsafe. Will someone from ford do something!?

Normal? Seriously? People give me the stink eye when I pull next to them. A teenager the other day asked me if my motor was blown because it sounds like a diesel. Come on now....
