Here's some interesting talk. Is the 2014 GT with "Track Pack" have any different Coyote 5.0 than the 2015 GTs? They are recommending 5W-50 Motorcraft full synthetic for that Coyote.

The engine in the 2015 is not the same as the 2011-2014. You have a new crankshaft design, new rods, pistons, valves, vale springs, cams, and the heads are somewhat revised. I have money on Ford made revisions in that list to prevent the problem. Using 5w50 might not be a problem, but I wouldn't risk it. I'm doing my best through normal channels to get this problem taken care of, though, being on a second engine and getting the problem again, I worry. (I am the one asking BITOG's opinion on using 5w30 in that thread. It is my new long block making that noise.)
Three things: Those XL-17 posts are years old, I haven't seen anything about it recently. The oil used by the dealership in my long block for its first fill was the same synthetic blend they'll use when you bring your cars to the dealer for an oil change, not some special break in blend (I started getting the ticking noise within 300 miles of engine replacement, before changing the oil, only after changing the oil did it get really bad). I had the dealership use the regular motorcraft blend for my first oil change.
Normal? Seriously? People give me the stink eye when I pull next to them. A teenager the other day asked me if my motor was blown because it sounds like a diesel. Come on now....

Sounds coarse/grainy. I hear what you're talking about. It doesn't sound right at all. Then again I have a very sensitive ear for this kind of stuff, even if I have no idea what causes the bbq tick. Yours is not the bbq tick, but it does not sound right.
