I'm a little stuck.

I wanted to get a 2015 GT premum with PP but I've never been big on manuals. I get the arguments for why they're great -- but when you're in the heart of Los Angeles, and prefer the efficiency the auto provides, it's a harder sell. I'm really confused why Ford offers the PP with the ecoboost auto but not the GT auto.

Not getting the brakes upgrade feels like the main hit. Not sure if the enhanced structural support and the larger radiator matter in the long-term.

For you guys with more experience, what do I miss out not having the performance package? Should I stop worrying and just enjoy stock or upgrade bit by bit with after market parts over time?

I went thru the same contortions B4 we ordered the little woman's car. Unless you drive it 10/10ths, you simply don't need the six piston calipers. Trust me, the four piston calipers stop on a dime with 9.9 cents change;) She wouldn't deal with the stick, because of her commute, so I just bought the coil tower brace and the PP springs and sway bars from flea bay for a grand total of $400. The brace was brand new, and the rest was new car take offs from someone who went straight from the dealer to race shop to start the mods on the first day he owned it! The other problem with the PP is the ricer looking wheels that come with it, plus- go out and price replacement 19" tires- that might "help" you decide...

This depends on what your "fun" drivng is going to be like, and how much your going to do that.

If your going to spend a bunch of time canyon carving or auto-crosssing then the gt pp is probably worth the sacrafice. This is where the suspension, brakes and cooling will make a difference. But you need to weigh that against how annoyed your going to be rowing gears in la traffic and how much your time your going to speend doing that.

If your fun day diving is going to be more straight line - drag racing - the the auto is probably better anyway - my research suggets they are a little quicker, and if you ever get serious about it the auto can be easier to tune and more consistent. I dont think the pp wheels, suspension would get replaced pretty quickly on a car that was serious about 1/4 times.

• Strut-tower Brace (I can buy one and add)
• Larger Radiator (ehh my has even come close to overheating)
• Unique Chassis Tuning (really?)
• Upsized Rear Sway Bar (most people with PP have upgraded springs and sways)
• Heavy-Duty Front Springs (see above)
• K-Brace (I can buy)
• Brembo™ 6-Piston Front Brake Calipers with Larger Rotors (my car stops fine but I have toyed with upgrading for around $2k)
• 19” X 9” (F) 19” X9.5” (R)Gloss Black Aluminum Wheel (I bought a like new set of "you guessed it" a guy with PP who upgraded his wheels)
• Unique Stability Control, EPAS & ABS Tuning (??)
• 3.73 TORSEN® Rear Axle (I got the 3.55)
• Gauge Pack (Oil Pressure and Vacuum) (ok this is one I would have liked)
• Spoiler Delete (I ordered my car with spoiler delete)

All that to say it wasn't worth it to me to get a manual I didn't want just for a few things.

both are good set ups...I personally prefer the performance pack for the price it was a no brainer. I too feel it would have been cool if they offered PP on the auto not just the LE..I may have bought one in that config.

I care about infotainment
Sure, manual during a commute in stop and go traffic isn't all that fun but the the S550 has such a light clutch it's not that bad from what I've experienced on test drives. Plus it has creep assist and hill start assist so it's truly not the manuals of old.

My s197 has a heavier clutch and I95 in South Florida is no picnic in terms of traffic either and I only regret having a manual maybe 1% of the time I drive it.

Not getting the brakes upgrade feels like the main hit. Not sure if the enhanced structural support and the larger radiator matter in the long-term.
The stock GT brakes are plenty for the street - they are pretty powerful. Now if you were to track your car and run it hard over and over braking on the track, then the Brembos are what you need.

And if you felt like you needed more stopping power with the stock GT brakes I'm sure you could get some different pads that will bite harder.

The EC PP rearend is only 3.55. Not really a gear head, but maybe getting the auto to work with the 3.73 gears the GT PP has, would not be feasible/cost effective/doable?

Beating to a differant drummer here.

What if you think about it as leg work-outs as you will live longer and healthier the more you exercise, = leg strength. The GT will cruise at 1 MPH without touching the clutch. Creep mode works great. Plus it's easier to leave in lower gear to avoid going to fast and getting more tickets. MAN UP, J/K maybe

A slower 1/4 mile with the PP? Stick with the auto you won't regret it.

It's difficult to beat an Auto Coyote in the 1/4 mile. Also, if the Auto is shifting that fast in the 1/4, it could do very well in Solo and Track. Not shifting could bring an Auto car right with the manual. You would need to find out...

Other than that, it's just road course capability and endurance your missing out on.

The Auto is on fire in the 1/4... A Performance Pack would only slow them down.
