I’ve been trying to stay more organized with my car—maintenance, parts replaced, upgrades, mileage, etc.

Right now it’s kind of all over the place (receipts, notes, photos on my phone).

Curious how you all track this stuff long-term?

Do you just keep receipts, use a spreadsheet, apps, or not track it at all?

I have a note on my phone with the work done, date, mileage.

I dont list the costs. I tried that with one of my cars once and after a while my eyes started to twitch like Forrest Whitaker.

I have three tools:

- A Moleskine notebook. This is for personal notes. I use different colored pens for separate topics. Red is for faults and problems. Blue is for detailing. Black is for routine maintenance. Purple is for general checks

At Redbubble, you can buy stickers of all kinds to place on the cover and inside.

- A Bigso box. Physical papers, the owners manuals, receipts, get tossed here

Some use binders with document protectors, which can work very well.

- A spreadsheet. Two actually. One keeps track of maintenance. At one glance, I can see mileage, dates, activities, separated by topic. Another sheet tracks costs of virtually everything

Folder in the file cabinet for all the physical receipts/paperwork. And a free spreadsheet template from vertex42. Has spots for date, mileage, work performed, performed by, cost, and notes. It'll calculate total cost if you want.

LOL, I sort of stopped a long time ago. I know in my head what bolts need to be checked. Otherwise if I had to inventory what I have done, I'd probably just have to go look at the car for a few hours and get it listed.

Juice really isn't worth the squeeze IMO.

I just keep an Excel spreadsheet for mods and maintenance. I also keep a folder on my hard drive with scanned copies of receipts and instructions. I run backups on all my data. I tend to lose paperwork, so electronic files work better for me.

^ This. One spreadsheet tab with dates, mileage, and maintenance, another with purchases (part numbers, dates, cost, supplier) as well as sales of parts, then other tabs with notes specific to stuff like wheels, suspension, etc. Have been doing this for years with all our vehicles.

Just a note on my phone for a long time, but now I run a program called lubelogger on my server at home that's awesome. Not just for the Mustang, but all vehicles.

I keep an excel sheet through Google. All receipts are kept in a “car” folder in my email. Spreadsheet lists date, mileage, description, cost.

I've never even thought of this to be honest it's kind of funny I've always done on my own work so of course I know everything ever done to my vehicle. I didn't even realize that's a thing but I get i, t I remember doing oil change receipts for the dealer before I put my turbo kit in and called it a rap for my warranty. But if I had to give any kind of substance to this post I would have to say i use my signature. Anything else on the car is it visual mods that i dont list and it'll be hard not to notice that being installed

I just scan or take a pic of the receipts or save a copy of the email (fluids, filters, etc). All work is done during the very next weekend of the purchase. I keep it simple.

I'm old school. I have a little note pad in the glove box and everything i do to it goes in it. Which I leave for the next owner.
