But what’s going to happen when those solenoids/screens/conductors start to fail?
They're not made of butter.
Electronics, if done properly, is extremely durable.

And the electronics of a car is very basic.

Almost anything new ICE is powered by something like 1 1liter 3 cylinder, turbo, cvt, cylinder deactivation, start/stop, electronics that scans you, makes sure you keep both hands on the steering wheel, pay attention, drives for you, but holds you responsible...

I got stocked with some reasonable cars for my entire family and plan to stay quiet for a while.
I did the same for my family, just waiting for the tide to change.

I'm not getting rid of it. My kid has already claimed it after I can't drive anymore. This and the 69 Fiat are going to be in the family for a long time.

I plan to keep my 18, PP1, 6sp vert for the long haul since the S650 does not tempt me at all. However, I may build a Cobra kit car for my next project and use a wrecked S550 as the powertrain donor car.

This one will stay around for a while. My personal record is only 7 years of ownership (Average is closer to 3 years, though), and I've had my Mustang a little over half of that.

Currently, the only car that could/would replace it is a 996/997 Porsche 911, and in all reality I'd rather have this car paid off and purchase the Porsche as a second car for me to enjoy on the weekends.

I had originally intended to never get rid of the car before it even showed up and all the way up to the point of me driving the other car I ended up trading it for.

Went to visit my buddy out in Nashville and we ended up doing a 2 day autocross even with his car. The car was so much fun I almost immediately wanted to swap over to one. Ended up getting an absolute steal of a deal on a used one with hardly over 5000 miles and was 6 months newer than my Mach 1.

The rest is history. I plan on getting another Mustang at some point, hopefully or most certainly it will be a GT500 or something similar of sorts. I still miss the sound the Mach 1 made compared to my new car as it was the best sounding car I've personally ever heard in person. Who knows, maybe I'll find an old one. No idea where cars will take me with the way prices have been hiking up on everything.

My plan was and is to keep the car until I cannot drive any longer. It's going to be a while. :giggle:

Styling-wise, the 6G is one of the best generation Mustangs. The mechanicals of the S550 are well-known, well-sorted in the later years. Supporting that, there's a healthy aftermarket and spares market.

I'm fortunate I got the exact spec I wanted in what I consider an enduring Mustang color. "Don't F with it.", continues to be my thought on acquiring anything else.
Same here. It'll be my last new car especially since I only have about 6,800 miles on it for an almost 4 year old car. I love how it drives and sounds even without having active exhaust. At 71, I don't know if I'll still be driving in 20 years.

I had a S650 GT auto with appearance pack in Atlas blue on order, when I saw what the they looked like I cancelled and decided to keep the Grabber blue '22 California Special.

I will re access in the future, but will likely keep it until I can't drive.

wasn't planning on getting rid of it anytime soon, but if the Ford dealers aren't willing to work with me, I'll dump it and go back to driving an old vehicle. This is ridiculous.

Not following. How is dealer involved with a vehicle you want to keep?

Trying to keep it as short as possible. 22 ecoboost, purchased 10/18/22. Ordered 2/6/22 so over 8 months wait. That was strike one, but I knew it was going to be a wait-however the selling dealer was not keen on answering questions that I had, and originally stated a 4 month wait.

after owning it about a year, I have been noticing abnormal tire wear. Note that I am a technician (although not with Ford) so I ain't the same idiot that people think I am, although I usually act that way so people don't hound me with questions outside work. Took it back to selling dealer, they "can't find nothing wrong"-I asked them to perform an alignment check, said they did, but could not provide me with data. I paid them (and should have had to.....) and went on, I do drive the car and need it to get back & forth to work. Had it over there a second time, this time for several reasons. 2 recalls, a rattle under the car somewhere (sounds like exhaust???), and again for tire wear. They keep it for over a week and in that time, nobody could return a phone call. NOBODY! I ended up just getting a ride over there 4 times in 3 days to get in touch with anyone. Alignment, said no alignment done-said it'll cost me $$$. Nope, car's got warranty, I've documented this wear issue a few times both with them and with Ford, so they knew. Recall, had to order parts (said they had it in stock when I dropped it off???). Rattle, can't duplicate. I told the service advisor, come on outside with me and we'll duplicate the rattle. She says "I don't have time". Ok get someone else who does. Nope, everybody's busy. No they weren't because I know at least one of them personally, and I asked about it (hate to discuss work related stuff outside of working hours). My friend stopped by the house after I got off work and jumped into the car, yup, it rattles-but where from?? Needs to be on the lift to find it he says. Good, let's go put it on my lift. Can't find it. Gotta go to dealer.

Took it to another dealer and asked them to address it. Appointment for 1:00 pm. 4pm rolls around, phone ain't ringing. I stop in, "haven't looked at it yet". Ok, cool I understand as a tech myself sometimes there's jobs that eat your lunch. I'll bring it back. And I did, another 1pm appointment, no calls by 430, I stop in "can't get to it". Oh-kay, what's the problem now? Busy. I had an appointment.

Went to THIRD dealer, mind you by now I'm irritated but kept my cool with everyone. Appointment and verbal agreement that I'd wait at the dealer cause I ain't got no other ride. And this dealer is about 2 hours (one way) away from where I live. I sat in the "lounge" for 2 1/2 hours and finally a tech comes in and says that they can't find anything wrong and can't duplicate the rattle. I said come on, let's go make it rattle. By now it's 445 pm and they go home at 5. Jumped in the car, started it, put it in gear, it rattles. Yep rattle. Tech didn't immediately recognize it said I'd have to leave it for them to find it. Said that alignment was not checked (didn't say why). I'm disappointed by now, and 2 hours from the house I kinda wanted to get home before dark so I left.

Called Ford corporate about all this and they said it's a dealer issue. Which dealer? Been to 3. No clear answer. Selling dealer obviously doesn't want to deal with it, next dealer either didn't or couldn't, last dealer ran out of time. Time is important to me and I use it wisely. Ford hotline was little help.

So the tires are worn irregularly and the car drives with MORE road noise than my 2003 F250 7.3 4x4 does, but it's only got like 18,000 miles on it and has been this way from day one. There is an obvious problem, yet Ford can't offer any advice, dealers can't seem to find a way to even look at it, one dealer wants to charge me for everything even though the vehicle has warranty, I had to wait 8 months to get the stupid thing in the first place, and this is the first brand new car I've ever owned. So to say that this whole experience is positive would be a lie.

So yes, I'm quite disappointed with Ford, and especially with the dealers. The dealer is a representative of the company, and if the dealers are unwilling to at least work with me, I'm unwilling to trust Ford-or the dealer-in the future. I'm to the point right now where I'm about ready to sell this thing and go back to an old car that I can fix myself. It's less trouble to pull it onto my own lift and do repairs than it is to have to drive, drop it off, wait hours upon hours, waste a lot of time, and end up getting nothing accomplished. I spoke of the warranty because I read every word in the warranty statement and I don't see anywhere that says "alignment is excluded"--particularly since the wear issue has been ongoing, and documented. i'm also a dealer tech and if I took care of my customers this way, I'd not have many of them left. So I understand completely.

One would say that "you treated the dealer like crap and they're less likely to help"--wrong. I've respected everything they've done, although disappointed, I've always been respectful with them. Again I'm a tech, they have to deal with that stuff on a daily basis just like I do, and I don't want to make their day any worse than it already is. But it's time for Ford, and/or the dealers to get off the pot on this deal.
