What did you do to your GT350 today?

Swapped out the old coolant reservoir for a Fathouse reservoir last night. I'll call it a success after much swearing and cursing whoever made these OEM hose clamps. Also after a decent amount of coolant spillage into my once "pristine" engine bay

Glad I did it though. Looks much better AND, the old reservoir was ROUGH. It was literally turning into sand as I loosened bolts and hoses. It also was leaking from the seam where the top and bottom parts of the shell meet in the middle, between the min/max lines.

Then took her to Cars and Coffee unwashed. The horror!

Bought one! I'm back! Flew out to Houston Wed and drove it back to Georgia. Took about 12 hours, nearly 1,000 miles. Enjoyed EVERY second of it....there is nothing quite like downshifting from 6th to 4th when you are next to a concrete barrier. Super pumped. I missed this engine so much. Just ordered a new coolant tank (This one is brown and turning to dust), fuel filter (at 31k), and air filter. Will be ordered Camber plates, new steering wheel (this one dingy), and new front lip as well.

Looks great, I am so glad that I swapped mine out for the steeda unit 2 years ago.. those oem plastic reservoirs were a bad idea by Ford

Wrapping up a sound upgrade. Focals on the rear deck, a Dayton 3.5” for center front channel, LC2iPro, JL XD500/3 (rears/sub), and a Skar box fitted with the JL 12W1v3-2.

That box and the sub are a match made in heaven…I will confess that I’ve never had a single 12” move so much air. The rear seat latches were moved fwd 3/4” to provide an air gap and it moves my hair (along with my eardrum).

The Focals have a rear baffle to isolate from the sub, and the ‘horse blanket’ rear deck got punched out. That oversight putting speakers beneath carpet is now the third ‘WTF Were You Thinking’ question I have for Ford (following that fugly plastic overflow res and 35lb wheels made out of Chinesium).

Gonna scribe some lessons learned along with some questions that I didn’t see previously threaded. In a nutshell, I now have engine song AND a thumper for the ultimate eargasm.

Who says you can’t have Ginger and MaryAnn?

I had the absolute craziest thing ever happen to me today! Could not believe it. Still trying to relive the events to see if they were real or maybe something is wrong with my car. I drove it today. High of 25°. I think it was around 18° when I left the house. I never had a singe “ohh shit” moment on the tires under braking or acceleration, so not really sure what’s up with that. Engine was chugging cold air like it was starving to death and nothing blew up; also left me confused. IDK. May try it again to see what’s up. Apparently you can’t drive this in cold weather, so not really sure what’s up with my car. I’ll give it 2-3 more drives and report back. Oh yeah, the power also felt extremely high. Must be me.

Cold dense air makes more power. Cold pavement with summer tires is a no no.

These cars do not do well in cold weather, especially temps below freezing. The engine oil will never reach proper operating temp leaving it not flowing enough throughout the engine. My car at 45° will barely have the oil reach 180° even after 30 minutes of driving. Let alone the oil pressure is usually near 120psi. I can't imagine what it'll do at 18°. You can do real damage to the engine driving in such cold weather.

At 180F oil temps I don't see normal driving being an issue. 4k rpm max should be fine. One you've been at 190F for 20 minutes let it rip to 8250rpm.

What is the lowest temperature oil you feel comfortable enjoying your car? I usually go by cylinder head temp. What oil pressure range do you like to see, top to bottom through all temperature ranges.

I want at least 180° oil temp before I'll go over 4k rpm. And usually in warm weather, the oil pressure ranges from 70-105 psi. Cylinder head temp doesn't mean anything if the oil is still cold and not flowing smoothly. I find any temps 45 and lower are not comfortable to drive in. Plus, at colder temps the transmission temp stays around 75-85, and it becomes very stiff when shifting. It takes a deliberate effort to change gears. Whereas when everything is nice and hot, I can shift with just 2 fingers. But cold temps means I have to manhandle the shifter.

P.S. I didn't buy this car to drive it like an old man in winter. I bought it to drive it like the track car it is. So I'm not abusing it in colder weather.
