So I've seen some hype about forged wheels and other components (brakes, etc..) coming from Alibaba. I've never ordered anything from there as I have always been very skeptical. But I have been looking to do a drag pack for the rears, all the usual suspects VMS, WELD. Then I started looking on Alibaba and came across some pretty nice designs. I have the PP2 wheels and I would like to have something somewhat match that style.

Just wondering if anyone has gone the Alibaba route or if its just scam city.

>$300 each? The website lists each package as 20.0kg. If it is accurate, that is a damn boat anchor.

I'd rather have a set of flow formed Apex wheels, with their warranty, at that price point.

Haha yeah I saw the 20kg after. Had to be the wrong units. Or maybe they are made of carbide.

Ive seen some YT reviews and the knockoffs the people bought actually look REALLY good, and seem great quality for the price when inspected close up. The real test would be some long term durability but I've not seen any horror stories about them yet. Probably just depends on the vendor thats used.

The MOQ is 4, so perhaps that's the weight of all 4?

MOQ - Minimum Order Quantity

Up above in the ad it says, "Single gross weight, 20 kgs". 44 pounds each. Check the package size; that's enough for one wheel. A single wheel in the box, I assume with the box, is 44 pounds.

The Apex wheels I ordered came in a box with 2 wheels in it, but each wheel had its own box. Maybe that is how these are shipped? Hard to tell due to the box dimensions and the complete unreliability of information on Alibaba. Yet another reason to use a proven vendor.

people may already be buying them or close to it.

The problem is that some of the random online/Instagram wheel brands are doing the same thing.

-buying the same wheels you are looking at
-wrapping it in more market friendly/confidence inspiring branding
-marking it up to cover certain margins

Cutting them out lowers the price but potentially raises your risk if something goes south in the transaction. i get it.... nobody wants to pay 5-10k for a set of wheels that you now know how the sausage was made.

personally that heat is too much for my kitchen. I want to know to some degree that if this transaction goes south the company has my back or will take the brunt of it. if the measurements get wonky they will take the brunt of that mistake. Companies in theory should have tax write offs, insurance and better means to work through these issues then just little ole me. then insert safety and structure concerns. just my two cents.

Apparently the Alibaba wheels are good. I've even heard rumors that you can get Apex lookalikes that are made in the exact same factory, on the exact same lines, to the exact same specs. You can sometimes find reps that come in bolt patterns or offsets that don't even exist otherwise.

Maybe you can, maybe you can’t.

Good luck getting tech/fitment info, warranty or other service from the “manufacturer” of the copy.

There is more to the price of a wheel than just the wheel.
