I putted around at a few sites yesterday, the exercise leaving me to pass on Alibaba and similar offerings.

When I go to Weld, Apex and other vendors, I know I'm buying a purpose-built, proven wheel. Tests, specs, certifications, user experiences and 6G Member posts are some of the feedback available to study.

I came away from the Alibaba site with the thought the wheels made are more for appearance and price than functionality. While the product could fit and work, details of tolerances, metallurgy, applications and other aspects was often lacking. I'd save on price, potentially at the expense of so many other things.

That is correct. They are manufactured in China

It would be ignorant to believe that every wheels that is manufactured in China is of the same quality.

Same country does not equal same product, and as stated in previous posts, there’s more to it than just the wheel in the box.

No-one said or implied that so keep your ignorance . I just stated a FACT . I have found companies that have made Apex wheels and they exist on Alibaba And you can buy these wheels in custom configurations for < half the price of "US" sourced Apex wheels .. Thanks for listening

What anyone else does is their business . I DGAF , just presenting information that might or might not help others , IIWII . Good luck

A lot of Mustang factory wheels have been / are made in china , dont shoot the messenger

Edited for a mixup in posters:

You (not you, the other guy) are asserting the possibility that the copies are made on the same line (and hence are the same quality) as the Apex wheels, without evidence.

So no, someone DID imply that.

This ā€œjust as goodā€ ā€œevidenceā€ is that they look the same and they are manufactured in the same country. Hardly proof of anything, as it’s practically Chinese culture to copy anything and everything. They wouldn’t know an original idea if it hit them in the face.

I know where most of them are made. I plainly stated that Apex are manufactured in China. My POINT is that there is more to a wheel than where it’s manufactured. A lot more.

I also don’t care where people get their wheels. But this ā€œjust as good on Alibaba for half the priceā€ idea is almost fully without merit.

Asserted ( state a fact or belief conifdently and forcefully ) Possibility ( a thing that may happen or be the case) , thats a hell of an oxymoron

Look Karen , you buy your " Apex" wheels and i will buy what i want .

Tell us these companies you all of a sudden know about who manufacture these wheels .. haha , you cant hey .. good luck champ , like i said i DGAF .

Had enough of your drama , I am not trying to get anyone to do anything outside just opening eyes to some facts DYOR , i have . Ignoring you now as you are one of those people , get a life

ā€œHow dare you not share my opinion on crappy copies for poors, I’m going to throw a petulant rant and then ignore you!ā€

Ignore lists are for snowflakes.

Enjoy your wheels brother, wherever you buy em😘

The Apex wheels I ordered came in a box with 2 wheels in it, but each wheel had its own box. Maybe that is how these are shipped? Hard to tell due to the box dimensions and the complete unreliability of information on Alibaba. Yet another reason to use a proven vendor.
That is how mine came.

But yeah. They publish weights right on their website, which is a plus.

I have used a company called JOVA wheels 3 times now and on average you're spending about $400 per wheel delivered. You get full customizastion, design offset, width, color they email back and forth several times with renders to verify you are getting what you want, The process is not quick it usually takes 2-3 months from start to receiving the wheels. I am not worried about weight as I don't use these at the track, the look great for daily driving. I am working through a set right now for my Mustang but here is a set they made me just a few months ago.

Maybe you can, maybe you can’t.

Good luck getting tech/fitment info, warranty or other service from the ā€œmanufacturerā€ of the copy.

There is more to the price of a wheel than just the wheel.
It’s mostly just the brand, it’s a huge discount. We’re talking $800 wheels for $200.

I could just buy another set and still come out on top, you’re just paying for a name they’re all made in the same factories.

Does the $200 set come with a warranty? Replacement program? What about service?

Just because they look the same doesn’t mean they are manufactured in the same factory nor does it mean they have undergone testing to ensure integrity. You also don’t get extensive fitment guides(Apex does more work than almost anyone in that regard) and photo galleries either. Accessories that work with the wheels… etc.

ā€œIt’s mostly just the brandā€ is demonstrably false unless you can show me an identical wheel and prove it is made in the same facility using the exact same manufacturing methods. And even then it doesn’t come with the support… which is worth a lot to some of us.

I don't know, I've bought a dozen sets of wheels and have never used a warranty or any "service" for any of them. I get your point about they may or may not be the same. But, I've also been in the manufacturing business for a couple of decades and can attest that there is definitely some truth to multiple different brands can and are produced on the same manufacturing lines from the same facility. Not saying that is the case here as I haven't even looked at the wheels in question. Just saying.

Yeah man I’m not gonna come to your house and force you to buy rep wheels šŸ˜‚

just buy what you like, but I’m telling you you’re mostly paying for a brand. I don’t think you can honestly say anything I’ve said is ā€œdemonstrably falseā€

This is an interesting topic. my best mate just got a set of 6 custom made rims made for a land cruiser 200 series project. made from Cnc machined from billet aluminium. Through the process they discussed with him what he was using the rim for , and for very long distance outback remote travel etc. needed light weight and very strong. Also size and offsets to fit his custom made portal axles he got made ( different manufacture in China)
The quality is outstanding and if they had a sticker on them saying any of the major rim brands I don’t thing anyone would question it. $300usd each , shipped to australia.

this is the company.
