While I was standing in the parts line yesterday at my ford dealership, it was hard not to notice the Dark Horse displayed 10 feet away. Just to humor myself I took a couple steps back to see the window sticker on this non-HP car with a matt wrap. No ADM but still stickers at $80k. Unreal. With the newest version of the GT350 beginning at nearly $110k for a base POS, it’s hard not to think that nearly any s550 is a bargain. I make a decent income, but I am puzzled how anyone justifies that kind of money for something so pedestrian. Do you really think that a base ($109k) 2025 GT350 is going to be a nanosecond faster than any S550 GT350? For twice the price??
Which one will hold its value better over time? Which one makes a better NOISE?
I just don’t get it. Perhaps marketing is just that powerful that it can overcome common sense. There are going to be a lot of winners and losers when this all shakes out. I’m in it for the ā€œWā€.

I wouldn't say the value will necessarily increase, but clean models will probably hold their value better over the years. Non special models will still decrease in value, just not at the rate that they would have if their successor was a good value.

Now special models like the Bullitt, Mach 1, 350, 500 or even the PP2 might in fact see a small bump especially if low mileage. But it wouldn't be for many years until they become mini classics.

SA’s 350 hasn’t been received well. That’s been gone over in previous threads. I’m obviously bias to the Ford produced 350/350R. No disputing how good these cars are. The same came be said about 650’s compared to the 550’s as to the SA350. They just haven’t been received well. The 650 needs a mid run refresh to address some of the styling in my opinion, but that’s subjective in reality. The 550’s styling wise were outstanding in that regard. We’ll see what happens to values on the regular Gt’s, the 350’s and 500’s already hold their values very well. All that said, pricing aside(is what it is), the positive to take from it is we(and others) can still buy a v8 pony car. That’s a win all day for car enthusiasts.

It's boosted it will be way faster

And it's twice the price because "it's a Shelby"

Agree with the others. Not sure values will increase a ton (or at least not keep up with time of value money that you’re actually making a real return on a sale), but they will hold their values well relative to other cars. I see it with low mileage 2019-2020 R’s in particular here. $90-$100k all day long and that’s been pretty consistent the last few years

I think Ford's and Ford dealer's perceived value of the Mustang (and the Bronco) are a bit out of touch with reality. How is the S650 selling? Oh ya, it isn't. Broncos too. My wife has been shopping for a Bronco for a few months. Dealer closest to my house has over 80 on the lot. Just row after row after row of them. Are they discounting them appropriately? F No. The dealer is shady as hell and has tried to hide almost every incentive from us. I bring them up and get a BS story.

I do not see many S650s in the wild, but when I do, I still dislike the look. If I were in the market for a new sports car, the S650 would not be on my list. I will keep my 2016 GT and my 2021 Mach 1 HP.

Regarding increasing value, I do think the S550 platform will appreciate over time. To me, it is the best generation of Mustang. Ya, the die hard fans of the 1st gens will kill me, but it is my opinion. They look great, are relatively reliable, great daily drivers, and extremely tunable.

For $109k you don’t get boost. SA says you get 480hp. You’re going to spend another $10-15k for the boost. Worth it now??

Shelby American cars are not the same thing as the Ford produced GT350 and GT500. The SA cars are way over priced for what you get (even though you do get a lot with any S650 car)

Definitely depends on the dealer. My local dealer is giving the employee pricing plus additional $$ off on top of it for certain models/trims. The GM there is a deal maker, he wants to move inventory. I know the Dark Horse is excluded from the extra $$ off, not sure on the Bronco.

Ford also recently announced 3 models will see small price increases due to tariffs, the Bronco being one of them (and the Mach E, can’t remember the 3rd one). Mustang is excluded for now

They are trying hard to replay the covid scarcity game. Fords biggest mistake is interior design and finish they all resemble 1984 Nissan Sentra in everything from seat shapes to material used.

The faster China cars are allowed with a mere 20% tariff the faster everyone else will have to step up their game because right now anything under $120K is just garbage need to spend $150K just to get decent interior.

Aside from the very special SEs the best we can hope for is reduced depreciation and like new models increase in price.

I like S650 look in person but the screen kills the whole vibe feels like any other car.

On every sports car forum, every time a new version is released, someone posts a thread like this. How many cars are you aware of where the previous generation went up in value after an new version was released?

The Shelby American GT350 is not a "value" car, there is no concept of "worth the money" with this thing. Its for people who have the money and want the car, its not meant to be deliberated over and compared. They build the car the way they want it, and charge what it costs + profit, then you decide if you want what they're offering.

Personally I'm entirely unsurprised to see this thing cost what it does, life has gotten colossally more expensive in the last several years across the board.

I admit I’d love a NA Revology ā€˜68 fastback with a coyote and my TR-3160 along side.

Having owned a ā€˜67 and ā€˜68 fastbacks, I would buy one of those in a heartbeat. Unfortunately I would have to sell my house and wife to make it happen. No way am I selling the house…
