i thought i better put this up here to save others doing this mod some major problem
i will try to get a pic up here shortly
im waiting on mine to arrive but wanted to look into it
i felt down under the hood into roughly where the cuts will be and found part of the loom resting right where the cut will be {actually leaning against the fender}
it is touching about 3 to 4 inches
note MAY ONLY BE IN RHD VEHICLES I DONT KNOW BUT OUR BATTERY IS ON LEFT HAND SIDE
i wanted to put this up before i forget

if you look at link and see top onr {lh} from right hand side of template ,,fender
seam the wires start about 10" across to roughly 13: across it may be same on other side i dont know yet

So, it seems that seperating the well liner before doing any drilling or cutting is important to check on any other bits in there. Thanks for the tip.
I plan on attacking mine over easter.

Peter when you open up bonnet/hood curl your fingers over and under the top of the guard/fender you should be able to eel the loom about maybe 2 inches down i couldnt feel it when i put my arm up from bottom behind the liner

I would certainly do this but have them painted matte magnetic metallic to match what’s on the Mach 1
Waiting... i have the same aspirations but don't have the balls going crazy with the cutter...

If you review my install thread for my track spec vents you can see photos from my car. Not sure what differences there are between GT and GT350 and LHD vs RHD builds, but on my car the only wiring look is held up tight to the inner fender structure. I can't imagine any scenario in which there would be a wiring harness anywhere near the actual outer skin of the fender.

This is our passenger side where our battery is. All wiring is well clear of the fender.

Dave, I can't quite make out the bottom photo. Is that the liner on the right of the photo. If so that plug is very close. In your case does it clear the cut/drill area or too close for comfort.

hi Peter the pic i took imagine curling your fingers over the guard where in first pic i have "wire" written i dont know what it is the wires are attached to
im going to delve into it later today mine is a 2017 s could be different than yours ??
as i was trying to explain i never work on "late model cars as i dont understand a lot of the electronics
i have to check the clearance i dont know wha the actual part is as yet but its very close to the guard..i pulled the wires away from the guard for pic
my old eyes are straining lol
ps you should be able to feel wires with liner on {clear as mud i know }

ok Peter here is rough cut i hooked the wire back while cutting it with a wire tie
i cut it using a dremel on 35k rpm
i left about 1/16" to clean up you will see the outline of template is not straight at all
first i drilled the 5 holes using a 1/16 bit later i will use 5/16 as instructed
i would not use a 4" cutoff wheel if you have wires behind like mine
im a bit handicapped at moment had to use one hand my left one which made it a bit harder
i will post link to dremel whls i used

Thanks again Dave. That whatever it is wiring does look close to the cutting. Carefully and not deep cutting will be the go for me. I have the Dremel EZ456 discs which are 1 1/2 inch so probably same as what you used.
