Welp I'm going to install these this Friday. Wish me luck :whew:

I am looking forward to hearing/seeing how this install works for you. Especially what tool you find is best for the cutting of the aluminium fender. Also if you find any problems with dropping the inner liner.
I have my vents and have had them painted in orange fury leaving the black mesh unpainted. Havn't been game to start cutting the car yet.

Well my friend only has an angle grinder so that's what we're using lol. I'm thinking for the curves/corners near the drill holes we'll use a drill to drill out and connect a line of small holes.

They're placed in a bad spot. Very little air flow inside that area of the fender. You want a GT350 style extractor.
Just as long as the bottom vents are open so airflow can make it through there to upper fender vents are in place where the coolers would be, the air travels through there and upto the fender vents... they act like the F150raptor side fender vents as well. I've had both, Roush had a great design for the stage 3 cars. 👍👌

These were originally part of the Max cooling upgrade to Roush Superchargers. it adds an additional radiator cooler and engine cooler one to each side and the heat from it escapes out that vent going above the wheel well liner. rest is the intake vents that are also part of the kit that blows into the radiators, also a template to cut several small holes into the fwd section of the wheel liner to sort of add exit air behind the secondary coolers.

I recall an install video that they skipped that part cause they had GT350 style fenders so felt it was not needed.
1000% correct!!! Also on all 2021 Roush stage 3 cars as well.

I have a layman's belief that engine compartment air pressure will force hot air out through any available means only wind tunnel or similar will tell you if external air pressure over the vent will block discharge....

Angle grinder worked for the most part and then to get close to the actual line we used a $2 harbor freight file which went surprisingly well since the aluminum wasn't too hard to cut. Something to note is you don't have to go right up to the line, we were about 2mm away the entire outline. Also the 2 holes closer to the front of the car are pretty close to the big cutout so we went with a smaller drill bit to leave more metal in between.

Used my ford touchup paintpen to paint around all the metal edges
Screenshot 2025-02-07 180747.jpg

After everything was done we ended up cutting some slots in the fender to let more air flow through, was thinking of adding some mesh grill next time to make it look cooler

Finished project:

I think it adds to all the stuff I've done to my car nicely

Awesome install. Congrats on successfully taking the risk to achieve the end result. I may try again to perform this project later this year (Black Friday sale). I'll see if CJ Pony parts can do better with delivery than American Muscle did last year. Thanks for sharing. I'm impressed.

I always hear bad reviews about AM but I got mine as a returned open box from them for $150 and it was brand new, I guess ymmv

@stannypack, I see you noticed a possible hindrance to good vent airflow. I concur. It appears that in your case you were mimicking the GT350 wheel well venting with your fender liner mod, right? [I could not tell from the photo where you cut the hole in the liner specifically.]

My assumption was that Roush is using the vent to mainly extract heat from the engine compartment. That said, I wonder if on their vehicles, Roush removes the fibrous material between the fender liner and the engine compartment. See pic below for what I'm speaking of.

My plan was to remove that fibrous material to better extract hot engine compartment air through the resulting void. Maybe someone who has a Roush Mustang with vents can tell us if the fibrous material was removed by Roush, thus improving airflow from the engine compartment to the vents.

The slots I cut are just in front of the vents, if you zoom in you can see the fender vents through the slot

Looks great stannypack, well done. Black on black works well.
I couldn't leave mine black as it would be too many contrasting colours on the orange fury. In the next month I will get my install done and post some pics.

Don't be afraid of contrast on the orange fury.

I went with the Trackspec vents as they match the Trackspec vents on the hood.

I also did a full writeup of the install here. Probably some overlay in techniques for those wanting to do the Roush install.

I’m much more interested in function over looks.
What have you guys found or experienced as far as these different vents on different places on the car and different types of vents as far as increase in aero, increase in cooling of brakes or engine, etc.? Decreasing the weight of the car would be nice also.
Thank you.

Do not expect any loss of weight that's in anyway noticeable.

Cooling increases definitely noticed from the hood vents.

Decrease in hood flutter from hood vents is noticeable.

Wind tunnel testing has shown reduction in front end lift via venting. The more aggressive the vents, the better, to a point. Race Louvers seem to show the best results, but subjectively their looks aren't the best.
