Just checking to see if anyone on this site has installed Roush Fender Heat Extractors, and have pics to share. (The stock photos and reviews on the Roush and American Muscle sites are not enough for me to pull the trigger on a purchase.) Roush Link

While I'm interested in Ingot Silver installations, I'm sure others in the Mustang6G community would appreciate pics with other Mustang colors also, as well as reviews from those who purchased and installed this option.

Subbed in, would love to seem some pics too. I’ve got the fender vents and the hood vents in my cart, just haven’t pulled the trigger yet

Duude, did they just start selling these recently?

i’ve scoured their site a couple times hoping they’d sell them apart from the Roush cars. Im definitely ordering a set.

Yes they just made them available a couple months ago maybe.

They're placed in a bad spot. Very little air flow inside that area of the fender. You want a GT350 style extractor.

What makes you say that?

Actually I thought the GT350 fender vent was an engine compartment heat extractor until a forum member enlightened me. The GT350 is for air flow in the front wheel/brake area. You can tell that from a pic of the GT350 inner liner.

I investigated the location of Roush's vent and there would be air flow, albeit it is not as much as I had hoped for to shed more of our Florida heat. The air would mainly flow along the outer side of the structural beam on each side, outboard of the battery box on the R/S and outboard of the brake manifold on the L/S. (There is a foam piece blocking airflow at the top of the fender liner that I believe minimizes air flow on a stock S550.)

For those who have a Roush Mustang, maybe you can check and report if that foam block exists after Roush gets done.

Foam "blocks" on my stock S550:

Cause you will need to remove a huge section of the fender structure to get good airflow w/ the Roush extractors IMO.

I’d be putting holes in the fender liners to pull air from the wheel area, not from the engine bay so I guess we’ll see what we need to cut.

I believe they have instructions on their site (maybe even a video?) and it shows you where to cut. They put them on their Trak Pack cars so I would assume they’re very much functional in some capacity.

I would certainly do this but have them painted matte magnetic metallic to match what’s on the Mach 1
While I initially considered matte black to match my hood heat extractor's color and finish, I too think that painting them the fender color may look better as you propose. We'll have to wait and see what folks do and report on.

@Stage_3 can you post some pics of your fender vents for the class?
