I installed a Roush active exhaust without the active valves and fab. my own active system. After I finished the active system. I started with the OEM resonator, and with the valves open it's just a little to mellow. Then I installed a Steeda x-pipe and now its way too loud. So I decided to try to get the sound level to meet in the middle. So I purchased a set of bottle resonators and built a jig so that everything stays in position when remove about a 12" section of the x-pipe and weld in the bottle resonators . Here is what I have done so far. If it turns out like I hope I will be a happy man. I will keep you guys posted.

I think the X-pipe is the problem. I removed mine and it quited it down

There are oval center sections that give a quite a bit more bark but not crazy loud. If this doesn't work for you for whatever reason try one of those.

I doubt that those will do much to quiet things down. I tried something similar with Vibrant 4” race mufflers when my cats blew out. When I received the race mufflers in the mail, I noticed That they were similar to the resonators that you have, but only shorter. I still had them welded in and they did nothing but increase the sound.

Here’s another option (Mac pro chamber exhaust) that might get you the desired result if coupled with the resonators.

Since you have the ability to weld things yourself, you could also try shortening the factory resonator (cut out a 6-8” section from the center) pack it with exhaust packing material and then butt the front and rear sections back together to really tailor the sound and then weld it back up, all while keeping the new resonators in place.

it's the X. A buddy had the Roush axle back, which sounded great. Then he got greedy and installed the X, and it's borderline ridiculous.

Had the local muffler man weld it into the adapter pipes.

Resonators straight through design with packed material will be the only real option to keep an aggressive tone but quiet the volume, i hear very good things about vibrant ultraquiets. Coyotes are loud, its very hard to dial an exhaust in.

I had an armytrix with catless headers, then swapped to borla touring, then ripped out the resonated h pipe for an x pipe, in the future im planning on swapping to a borla s type. Its not easy to control the volume while keeping a nice tone especially when you add catless to the equation

Actually Magnaflow street system is likely the best option for a full 3 in exhaust with a catless LTH option. No drone and it is loud enough when the valves are open. This is what I used on my 2650 setup.

I put 2M LTH no cats and H-pipe along with the stock 2.25 standard exhaust with Flowmasters American thunder axle back, it had great sound down low, but at 3k the drone was bad, I removed it and installed the MBRP street version full 3'CATBACK and it has no drone and sound good on the inside too( wife likes to drive it)

I did something similar and went to a true dual exhaust. I get a lot of compliments on the tone.

The best thing about this formula is that it really helps the coyote exhaust sound. A lot of those cookie cutter exhausts sound like crap

Do you happen to have a sound clip of this set up by chance? Trying to decide between your setup and AWE Switchpath. H pipe and stock AE with O/R Kooks gotta go!
