The whole concept of "allocations" is idiotic. These aren't limited-production cars. Make as many as you can sell, and a special ordered car is a SOLD car... They should be taking as many as they can get. When I special ordered my 2022 GT, they happily ordered it and Ford gave a $1000 incentive specifically for special-ordered vehicles. Why wouldn't you? Again, it's a guaranteed sale, no work involved. Just prep the car and do paperwork when it arrives, it's already sold and doesn't have to take up space on your floor plan.

Ok, not that I disagree. But are you saying the dealer is lying about it?

Not sure... But if they aren't willing to work to get you the car you want, look elsewhere. Expand statewide or even nationwide.

THIS.

In my opinion, allocations are dumb on limited production cars too, since the pool of buyers gets smaller the higher the price. If I had a group of folks willing to pay list price for an expensive item that I was producing, they'd all get one.

Agreed! Only thing is, that half of the time it's only expensive because they limit the production(like diamonds).

I'm guessing they didn't remove the shipping blocks from the springs. They also didn't add the plastic fender flares to the front wheel arches.

OP, you'll probably get more information on the 7G forums. You should be able to negotiate a discount on a Dark Horse if it is inventory at this point. GTs are receiving several thousand off sticker. Some dealers won't budge, but then they'll also wonder why they've had a Dark Horse sitting in inventory for 3+ months unsold. You can order a 2025 at this point, but the prices are significantly higher for real world builds, and the dealer may not give you a discount on an ordered 2025. As others have said, if the dealer has an allocation and they haven't already specced the car, you should be able to spec it to your taste so long as there aren't any constraints (for example, they don't build Handling Pack cars at certain points during the winter because the tires shouldn't be used under 40 degrees).

I had a dealer tell me I can't special order a Dark Horse to my preferred spec. That the dealer just gets what it gets in terms of an allocation, and you have to go searching to find one you want. As I want one in a specific color with a manual, this proves functionally impossible.

Is the dealer pulling my leg, misinformed, or possibly just trying to move inventory? Or is this accurate?
Here is my secret to finding new Mustangs.
