Does anybody have any 1/4 data on ESS velocity stack that they sell? I know they’re sold out as of this moment, but wondering if it’s worth getting it when they come back in stock.

I guy on the ESS forum did a dyno run with the filter on and with the velocity stack. With the velocity stack installed his car picked up 25HP, so yeah it works well. I’m waiting to get one for my set up.

I dynoed my car with the filter on, and the filter taken off (no velocity stack). It looks cool but I highly, highly doubt it picks up 25hp when there was absolutely no difference between filter on/off. Good luck

The guys name is Brevin Barney, he use to work for ESS, but he now runs his own shop called Boost Barn. He showed the data from both pulls, and the ESS velocity stack definitely picked up 25hp.

Velocity stacks can show pretty big gains on the dyno, they smooth out the sharp edge of the compressor inlet

Any comparison vs no filter? I have a bell mouth for mine but have never done no filter vs bell mouth, just filter vs bell and that is usually significant.

A velocity stack does pick up a little bit of power, not worth it to run an open blower though in my opinion. Make sure both dynos are done with the hood closed.
Would be devastating if something got sucked up in there. Would be my luck too

Here are some results from the velocity stack on the dyno from my personal car. G3X/100mm/E85/headers.
First graph is filter on vs filter off. We did about 3 pulls each and they averaged almost the same. Maybe a few HP with the filter off but realistically a wash.

Second graph is 3 pulls with the stack. All runs were done on the same dyno session with cool down between runs for consistency. All done on the ESS Dynojet.

Real world testing on my car has shown that the velocity stack does make gains at that power level, roughly 1 MPH on average 1/4 mile trap speed and slightly less than 1 tenth 60-130. The factory intake and filter do really well, so as mentioned it’s not really recommended to drive it around like that. In more controlled environments however, like the dyno or drag strip it can be beneficial.

Should be up now!
Perfect. Like I stated before. Not much difference between filter and no filter. Seems like the stack provides good and proven results at the track though so that's good. I agree, running it 24/7 is probably not a good idea LOL.

If you could squeeze out 5 more horsepower without a fuel filter would you do it?

If you could squeeze out 5 more horsepower without an oil filter would you do it?

I always give my car buddies grief who are running turbo guards or no filters. I've been forced to drive my car through clouds of dust on the freeway as they saw cut in an adjacent lane. What are you gonna do stop in the middle of the freeway and say "nope?" And not for nothing, all that gunk that accumulates on/in your filters, that's going through your motor and getting coated from your TB all the way back to the combustion chamber.

No thanks, if I need more power, there are sensible ways to find it.

As others have said, if you're a full on drag car and you're looking to squeeze every single ounce of sauce out of it, maybe. But for the street or daily use, it's a nope. If you want more power, then drop a pulley size, squirt some methanol or do a shot of nitrous, anything but run without a filter.

And depending on where your blower is located, it's not UNTHINKABLE to have a risk of hydrolock if you hit the wrong puddle or get splashed by another vehicle in ways that run water through your shit. Leaves, water, dust/debris, bugs, whatevs.

I don't even think I'd trade this risk if it was like 50 or 100 horsepower.
