Does anybody else remember the Honda CRX car from the 80’s. Got 50
mpg and wasn’t any smaller then these little cars I see today.
I had one with 130k ( when cars didn’t last like today ) and still was getting 45 mpg.

what happened to that “ technology”
Back in the early 80s there was an individual in Cocoa, FL that was experimenting with a 240ci straight 6 in a ford mustang with a carb of his own design that was getting average 80 MPG out of it at 70 mph highway and 70 around town. He had tested it for over 2 years, it was not quick to get up to speed but would keep up with normal traffic. When he got ready and applied for a patent on it and big auto got wind, they quickly put the legal screws to him, and it never saw the light of day. We should have had cars getting those MPG numbers long ago, but corporate greed will never allow it.

We are fighting a losing battle in terms of clean air for the world until we can make China get on board with any/all efforts to reduce emissions, they don't care and never will unless made to do so by the rest of the world. Just wasting money otherwise.

So why is Cobb liable? Why is it OK, we all know every tuning company had the off road disclaimer.
Probably the same reason the opioid pill manufactures were held liable. They knew what was going on. Haven't you heard about "addiction" in this community, too? 😉

Mankind is generally horrific at making choices and taking personal responsibility. I've never looked at things from the top down, but always from the bottom up. For the most part its the everyday people who have to do the right thing. Politicians... pffft.

Obesity, drugs (legal and illegal), alcohol, gambling, smoking, vaping, and really any type of addiction or excess are things to be avoided. And yet, look around you. People by the millions are too dumb to do the most basic things in life correctly. Don't overeat, don't do drugs, don't smoke, don't drink to excess, don't gamble, etc. etc. It's 2024 and we still have people by the boat load talking about astrology, aliens, and a flat earth. I'm in my fifties and the nonsense I have to put up with from my generational cohorts is unbelievable. They read something about something on FB and that's the god's truth. You think the masses can handle a discussion on CO2 emissions when they believe a constellation is determining their fate? Their magic crystal is sending out positive energy tho'. You think more than 2 percent of people on this forum can discuss something logically without letting their personal political or ideological bias enter in to the equation? People didn't know opioids were bad? Like really, somebody had to tell folks "hey man, this magic pills are probably not good to be on". Hmmm, doc give me pill. Pill must be good. Me take pill. Me like pill. Jeebus batman. People can't even push away from the table these days. You mean eating too much food made me fat? Its not even their fault their fat or addicted?

I wish people would tread lightly on this earth, but that isn't going to happen, so we're stuck with what we as a species have earned until we burn it to the ground.

With all due respect, you’re full of it
Don’t post as fact some conspiracy theory if you have nothing to back it up

It is not an addiction/disease it is weakness of the mind and soul in people. I live in pain every day that would keep most in bed forever and refuse to take pian meds because of the label that society places on those that do and having to be treated like a felon at a doctor just to ask for any pain meds. I did use them until 2016 when the govt mandated you go to pain management just to get them and submit to all manners of evaluations and therapies just to be out of pain, i told them to go F themselves and now live in pain and pissed off for being pissed on by govt. big pharma and the ama.

It just another one of mother nature's rules where only the strong survive IMO.

Absolute "Green" practice would be to recognize that the human species itself is the "pollutant". Likewise, an absolutely correct green company would cease commerce and shutter its doors with the employees inside and do a Heaven's Gate/Jonestown check-out. If you want to be a militant carbon footprint absolutist, you are ethically compelled to eliminate yourself and all others within reach. :)

I think it's all pretty delusional since we have China cranking away on their side of the planet like Mordor picking up the slack for any country that thinks it is cleaning up the environment. And then there's those pesky volcanoes spewing all sorts of gasses and matter into the atmosphere....and cow farts killing the ozone layer! Oh dear, can't we put Beano in their feed???

And we are sitting here sorting out plastic and metal....like polishing the deck rails on the Titanic as the species steams toward the ice. Short of us cracking the world apart with sufficient destructive energy, the planet will survive us and all our notions and conceits.

If Honda made a CRX that got 50 plus MPG why can't you believe a car can get more??

It’s not about the carb gas mileage, that part is irrelevant, but about the conspiracy theory that car manufacturers jumped in to kill the “invention “
As i said if a patent application was ever filed, as the guy stated, we can access it
This types of conspiracy theories about carbs being so good that car manufacturers want to kill them , have been going around for ever…. And some people even believe it…. Well, maybe not that surprising if they are members of the Flat Earth Society….
And believing that conspiracy theory is even more stupid if you consider that it would be the oil companies and not the car manufacturers that could be hurt by such “invention “

It can until it hits the limits of physics.
