Yeah, so easy to crack that trim piece when trying to remove it.
Fortunately mine didn’t crack as such, it just started to separate on the joint between the upper and lower pieces (that sandwich the shift boot) - I suspect it’s luck of the draw as the plastic welds in that area didn’t look as good as the ones on the other side that remained intact.

It takes a lot of force to get it out, compared to how much it takes to snap back in place on reassembly :like:

I hope I don’t have to take it out again, but if I do, I read it’s easy to remove the console, and then simply push the clips out from the back.

I too bought my Mustang a stablemate recently, but a bit more genteel.
Maserati Quattroporte GTS, with Ferrari twin-turbo V8, 540hp.

I refinish a lot of my parts, so I also invested in a surface grinder :

To be fair to our friend WD, if I used our kitchen countertops as a workbench, I’d at a minimum be sleeping in the garage 🤣. If he’s able to stay in his wife’s good graces after that mess, he’s got a keeper

I’ve not been married for 2 years yet, but we have been together for 24 …

She is very tolerant of me, but I do make sure I clean up / put everything away / make everything tidy etc afterwards.

I regularly have car bits in the oven and sink, and that doesn’t include my other hobbies that have invaded the house over the years.

I’ve even got a turbo, inlet manifold, fuel pumps, ecu, injectors etc etc in storage under the bed. If we keep her toys under the bed, then why not mine … ?

Good to hear she’s at least tolerant of it. My wife, not so much. I’m relegated to the basement and half the garage. I get the side eye if car parts are anywhere near the kitchen for more than a couple of minutes 🤣

Actually my wife of 50+ years has been patient with me having large projects....beginning with fabricating an 8' hydroplane in our first house's kitchen. (We had no garage.)
I've had numerous car projects over the decades that garage space just wasn't optimum, so the dining table became a work bench many a time.
For our current house I put a 3 car garage on my wish list. She house-shopped while I was still tethered to a job in another state. She got the house with features she wanted, but I didn't get my 3-car garage. But then, when she's so patient with my many projects fabricated in our large dining room, it's all okay. She loves the many projects I work on, and many of them she benefits from, so there's a good mix at our house.
I'm sure we could probably start a thread on this topic and have some good smiles and laughs.

Washed it. Did my semi-annual wash with CarPro Descale and also did my fall ceramic coating topper/refresh. Will get some pics tomorrow, just finished the topper a few minutes ago and it’s dark out ☹

I got most of y'all beat...my wife would HELP me do this! She's amazing.

But, "our" 72 Cutlass is actually hers...don't tell her I admitted that.

She hasn't yet had to help me twist a wrench on the Mustang though
