Has anyone on here successfully completed a buyback from Ford?

I told them they have to fix my car once & for all & give me something like a 10 year 100k mi warranty so I know they'll stand by it, replace it, or refund me

So I custom ordered my Mustang ecoboost HPP & 101A packages in 2022 & I love driving the car, when I get to, but it spends more time in warranty repairs than on the road! It's not 2 years old & doesn't have 15k mi on it. Has anyone had a similar situation?

Warranty repairs so far:
Driver seat track
Clutch Master Cylinder
Parking Brake
Steering Column

I got it back today, & it already has thrown 2 new codes that it never had before, now it has to go back in Monday:
Front collision assist
Passenger airbag

Additionally there's some hose under the hood that's been recalled, but it's backordered until June so it will have to go in AGAIN. It might as well live at the dealer they can just keep it.

Seriously thinking I need to make them buy back this car, this can't be normal right?
I ended up selling my 2019 GT because of an issue every dealer refused to do anything about.
The good thing is your dealer has been actually taking care of the issues. My car had very low miles. I put a lot of cosmetic work into it and a FP calibration that I had dealer installed. I would take it to car shows and win awards. There were air fuel issues and a clear issue with cylinder 3. The local dealer put my car in the back lot, let it sit there for 4 hours then told me nothing was wrong with it. I took it to another who said the cyld 3 spark plug was bad and replaced it. Within a few days my issues returned. Took it back and they just said no codes, nothing wrong. I knew better. I was having electrical issues too. Battery died, etc.. Something big was going to eventually happen. The car didn't drive how it should have. My wife's car would be faster at a light. I ended up getting frustrated with dealers so I sold it to carvana and got a good price for it. Car ended up on auction then to another Ford dealer and sold to someone 4 hours across state. I gave up on Ford after years of having them. Bought a Lexus and called it a day. I'm getting older so I figured if I'm going to get a car that's going to last and will get treated better by dealers I might as well go with Lexus.
I do miss the hell out of the Mustang everyday that's for sure and it's a shame the dealers here at crap.

Not normal, start thinking lemon law, or another choice of a Ford dealer?
It's been to 2 different dealers other than where I bought it, there aren't that many in town

I've had my 2022 since September 2021 with ZERO problems except the silly Brake fluid Alarm recall.....that letter is in the glove box for a future owner if there ever is one!! :like: :like:
I'm convinced that my car triggered that since it came out the week my car went in for the burst clutch master cylinder, the clutch & brake share a reservoir & I got no warning until my clutch hit the floor

I've not had any problems.

Threads of this nature often involve a car with the same, unfixable issue.

If you decide to call it a day and move on, I believe there are two general pathways:

1. As you mentioned, Ford's Buy Back Program.

2. CA's Lemon Law. The following gives a high-level brief:

https://dcba.lacounty.gov/portfolio/the-lemon-law/#:~:text=California's Lemon Law applies when, covered under the manufacturer's warranty.

In either pathway, it's my belief you'll not receive what you paid for the car. There will be a depreciation calculation for the time and or miles you had use of the vehicle.

Would Ford buy the car back? IDK. If it was the same issue being repaired several times, that'd put a lot in your favor. While you've been plagued by multiple failures, they do appear to be fixing them on the first try.

Regarding CA's Lemon Law, I see several statements involving arbitration, something many states have moved to. If engaging on this front, Ford will have their representation present. You could go it alone, but it'd be best to have some support. If a lawyer was involved, there will be the matter of them being paid. Finally, CA's Lemon Law says the arbiter could decide on something other than buying the car back.

Legal issues are messy and state-specific. If seriously considering either avenue, you could seek out an attorney that specializes in or has experience with lemon laws and buy-backs paying them for an hour of consult. There might be one in your immediate area offering free, initial discussions.
I spoke to a law office about it when they did the steering column, w/o going into too much unnecessary detail generally in CA there has to be a problem they can't fix, or it has to go in for the same repair 3+ times, or it has to spend multiple 30+ day visits.

I'm dangerously close to that last one if I haven't blown right past it.

Not sure how the state law reads but it usually has to be 30 consecutive days per visit, not an aggregate of multiple visits. Just an FYI but each state is different in that regard.

Its unfortunate some of you get the bad apples. Its just the way it is with mass production. Even Toyota being as reliable as they are some people get issues with it. Majority of Mustangs are great. I am on my 3rd one daily driving and has been a pleasure. Matter of fact all Fords in my family have been good, only maintenance work or minor things. Good luck hope your car doesn't continue giving you a headache.

It is a headache but my local dealer (not the one I purchased from who is still holding the title hostage) has been excellent with repairs and loaners.

Overall I love the car and It would take a big big headache for me to be too frustrated to keep it, every time I get mad I step back 10 ft and just look at the car:

At least Ford dealerships tend to be really good with warranty repairs. My local Toyota dealership worked really hard to discourage me from ever bringing my car in and what I've read online is they will use any excuse they can think of to say your car isn't covered.

How are they even able to do that? If you financed they have to give it to the bank. If you paid cash, they have to give it to you. Sounds like some shady shit to me
