Over the past 6 months my 2019 Bullitt insurance has gone up 30%! I'm with State Farm and I'm a 51 yo male. I stopped by the office and they said the classification had changed because of the price of parts. I can understand a slight increase due to inflation, but 30% seems like a lot. Any one else have this much of an increase?

My renewal is due 4/4/23 and will see what's up. When I see a substantial increase, I start shopping around to compare. Apples to apples of course.

Should always shop around every 3 years for any insurance.

Our policy hasn't changed more than $20-30.00 over the past 11 years.

  • 2016 FORD MUSTANG
    $511.00 ($42.58 /mo)

  • Total Premium

I also have State Farm and just renewed last month, it went from about $120ish to $143ish, so between 15% - 20% increase. This is for 2 vehicles and my old truck does not have collision. If it goes up again with the next renewal I'll shop it. SF was the cheapest when I shopped last and I have a settlement on my record still from a fender bender that was my fault but the other car hired an ambulance chaser and got a settlement just under my limit.

Both the other driver and the lawyer were POS. The driver straight up lied and contradicted themselves at the scene vs. post accident. Refused medical assistance, were laughing an joking then all of a sudden had neck issues based on a physicians finding that the lawyer recommended. Not to mention the other driver made the exact same claims 3 years prior in a different accident and the lawyer refused to provide those finding and x-rays.

On the positive side, my insurance is still cheaper now with State Farm than it was with Progressive who paid out the claim then dropped me. Yes, still salty about it considering my driving record was perfect prior to this, but it didn't cost me out of pocket so I guess it not too bad.

My renewal with Commerce/MAPFRE starts next month and went up about $150 to $1687 and that includes $500 deductible along with added optional bodily injury, towing & rental. Add in my 2016 F150 and I'm up to $2750 .

Mine went up 120% with USAA. I did get a reckless charge that was supposed to be thrown out with a driving school class, but the court didn't get the certificate until too late.

That's been rectificted now that I drove 2 hours to take another copy directly to them.

Clean driving record for 10+ years before that. I'm not happy with USAA lately. Still shopping around for an alternative. 19 years with them before this.

How much does the premium drop if you raised the collision deductible to $1000?

Do the risk/cost math......

95% of people over insure.

Oof, it's been in storage since 12/1, will be taking it out at some point in April when the weather breaks. Now I'm not looking forward to the quote adding collision back to the policy.

I pay $1,800 a year for my wife and I with Auto Owners, if I added my 2 kids, which I would never do, it would go to about $4,000.

Hmmmm….now you have me thinking…Worth looking into…I never gave it much thought, especially with my truck that sees maybe 5K a year.

A lot of it depends on the state, but with the way things are going it's hard to say. Mine hasn't changed much, but I'll see in April.

Exactly. The $500.00 "out of pocket" deductible savings sounds good, BUT..... If you save $200-350.00/year on your premium by choosing a higher deductible, and tend not to file a claim in less than every 5 years or longer, choosing that higher deductible is nothing but money in your pocket.

Deductibles are the biggest insurance marketing scams out there.

If someone drives a $20,000+ vehicle, but cant shell out $1000 in an emergency VS. $500.00, somethings severely wrong.
