Not too exciting really but at 72* and sunny here in God’s country (aka N. GA foothills) the day just screamed for a convertible so out came the GT for about 100 miles. Let me just say that sometimes I think we get wound up on Machs, Shelbys and modded cars and forget about what a capable car the stock GT is on the street, even pushed. Granted mine has the black package with larger wheels and tires but it makes no apologies!

Had to chuckle: cruising thru a new Buc-ees I stopped for a group of teens to cross and one fella commented on how pretty the car was and it looked old school. His girlfriend corrected him by saying no, it looks brand new!

A good day!

You went from no wing to that on a base car? Pretty drastic. What's next? Wheels? Looking forward to seeing the rest of the transformation.

Next up is a Roush chin spoiler and lower intake, then wheels.

How difficult was it lining up the template and drilling on a trunk lid with no spoiler?

The trunk lid is about 3/8" wider than the template, so I started with the top edge and kept adjusting it until I had about 3/16" on either side, then taped it down. It fit pretty well.

The whole thing took about an hour. I used Duplicolor primer on the exposed metal after I drilled the holes. I would've preferred actual Race Red to match the car, but I'm not paying $24 for a paint marker.

It's psychological. When there are special editions the basic item, even when trmendously capable like a bone-stock Mustang GT, seems inadequate somehow.

It's not.

I have always been a fan of the Classic style mustangs, and the emblems from that time are just so slick looking! So i ordered some Emblems for the 68’ mustang and installed them on the side of my 2016!

That’s an awesome mod, I love it!
(I do like the drivers side positioning better than the passenger side though.)

Could you please post link to source of those emblems?

Been feeling a little down the last couple days, so got in some good car therapy with my son. Installed the FP Bullitt lower grille and swapped the chrome pony for a Ford OEM black pony. The pony was a pain, broke every tab trying to put the nut on. Good thing I have rolls of 3M tape laying around, ended having to tape it.

The grille swap is tedious but not overly difficult, it’s held on by plastic tabs. Once you get a couple started it goes quick but those first few are a chore. Busted a couple knuckles in the process. I took my front wheels off to make access to the fender nuts a little easier.

Looks great, well done!

Was it relatively cold when you were making the change over? Reason I ask is a hair dryer or the careful use of a heat gun may have helped to bend the tabs.

I ordered one for my GT too. Should be here in 1-2 weeks.
