Ford did a good job with the mustang exhaust. These are shorty headers and not manifolds. A set of headers will give 20 hp give or take. On a 400 HP engine not really noticeable.

You are gen 3, so a good tuner who has PCMtec software can get 35 to 40 on E85. You don't need to add a sensor if your tuner knows what he is doing with the mentioned software.

I believe Livernois has 50 State legal tunes.

I have reached out to Livernois to see if they have what I am looking for, thanks!

The stock headers are 1 3/4” diameter primary, just like the gt350 and 500.

Response from Oz Tuning for anyone following or reading in the future hoping to get a PCMTec Tune. I am waiting for a response from the other shops and will update with their status.

"The inferred flex logic is not an option for 21+ Mustang. Ford has somehow disabled the logic in these PCM’s.

We’ve been tuning Musangs with PCMTec for a little over a year now, and we do have a multi-tune for the application. Currently, I’ve only been offering this service through our partner shop in Brazil, because I simply don’t have the time to type up all of the instructions and support related documents that are necessary to offer PCMTec tunes directly to end-users. So, at the moment, I don’t have anything I can offer you. However, we might add support in the coming year, if our current workload lightens a little and I’m able to invest time into the build-out for PCMTec support."

Unless and until engineermike can't make '21+ work with the research so far, I'm not taking that assertion at face value.

But if it's true, livernois has already solved the problem so just pick up the phone.

They are on the list of people I have reached out to and waiting to hear back. Just trying to get all the information I receive in one place.

I just pulled up a 2022 Mustang GT tune in PCMTec and all the same stuff is there that's in 2018-2020. I haven't confirmed it all works, but nothing is obviously missing.

I think OZ is referring to the ability to flash the PCMtec tune remotely. I would email them back to confirm.

I'm basing this on their ability to tune for Brazil.

I ran a flex tune just fine on my 22 tuned with HPT. You just have to monitor the fuel trims as the more or less ethanol makes its way through the fuel system. Say you are going from E to 93. On the fill up the car will start to learn. But the afr will mature much quicker than it takes for the E to run out and the 93 to be picked up. If you watch short term fuel trims, you can see as the car will start to correct for a super rich condition as the ethanol content goes down. Once you are seeing fuel trims in the -25% or more then it’s time to stop and do a KAM reset to retrigger another learn. Then at that point the car will learn up the afr again correctly and will mature once it’s been consistent for a certain period of time.
Keep in mind this is not something the Everyman should have. You can’t just switch fuels at will. The car will correct but it will be on the edge at times and should not be driven hard at all until the afr has normalized.

PCMTEC has a flash and log remote tuning option for Workshop customers. All the customer needs is a supported J2534 cable (like the OBDX Pro FT) and the tuner can send locked files to customers.

I don't have the workshop version. This is good to know.

I asked on the PCM forum if the 21 up has flex logic disabled from Ford.

Who did you get your tune from? When I search "livernois flex tune mustang6g" on google there are a few threads recommending against them, but then there are threads like that for all of them.

Yeah I did some research this morning and came to a similar conclusion, on my corvette LTH got me about 40 HP on the dyno so that's where my head went first with this car. There is also a possibility I switch up my career in about 1-2 years so I don't wanna end up with headers in a state that does inspection. My current state does not so I hadn't thought about that part of it.
Yeah I'm not saying it will get you no power, because it wont get you 0 HP, but its a LOT of work and a LOT of money for very little gain.

I have them, and there is some difference but its not a lot, and it's hard to notice. A passenger will not notice it. The sound is nice though! I won't argue with that lol

FWIW I've been running Livernois' Flex fuel tune for over a year and a half. No issues to report. I usually run E85 90% of the time. On long trips or if I can't find E in a different town I'll fill with 93 but any other time I'm running E85. It's very convenient.

That does sound nice, worries me having to flash a tune on the fly as I switch between E85 and 91. If something goes wrong you are stuck with a disabled car.
