Got to work on my replacement Gorilla nuts. Cleaned the oily residue from them with some All purpose citrus cleaner. This made them go quite dull but thankfully the clear coat once applied, brought the shine back. Hopefully these will not rust like the last set. Need to give them a second coat tomorrow. Made up a little jig as well to hold the nuts so they could be sprayed evenly and left to dry.

My dad then went on to make a shelf for the lockup as we've got too many bottles stashed in various drawers and kit bags. I think he's done a decent DIY job.

Whoa, that's some obsessive nut cleaning! 🤣

Built some cribbing boxes to get better clearance (and to feel a bit safer under the car) and changed the transmission fluid with Syncro Shift II & changed the differential fluid with Ultra Guard LS.

Ordered the Syncro & UG from OPmustang.com. Extremely impressed with them. Their kit was very well packed, came with everything needed and very well written directions. Top notch and highly recommend.

Prepping for track season and event this weekend.

Over the weekend I sanded the rotors and took the front struts out to switch to steeda camber plates.

Today put on Pagid RSL29 on the rear and changed oil.

Tomorrow will be mounting new Kuhmo v730s on my wheels and putting on the front pads in addition to bleeding brakes.

Can you share measurement and details of the cribbing boxes? Like the idea.

Not to but for.

I recycled oil from previous oil changes, including for numerous other vehicles, past and present.

18 gallons of synthetic oil. Oldest was Mobile 1, some Quaker State, and PUP for as long as I can actually recall.

Thought I could disguise lazy as clever by putting off recycling until I had a truck bed full. Then blew that cover by not recycling my stash before selling my last pickup.

Still rationalized that I was saving the planet by skipping dozens of trips to recycle.

Turns out every recycler here has a 5 gallon/day limit and I only had access to a borrowed pickup for one day.

So, got rid of four 5qt jugs at O'Reilly's. Then drove to Pep Boys to find they didn't update their website two years ago when they stopped doing this. Then hit the jackpot on my way to a NAPA when I spotted a brand new Advance Auto that had the same 5 gal/day policy but took all 13 gallons I still had, plus an old car battery I found hidden behind my jugs of used oil.

Now to figure out a new laziness project.....

Oh, also took advantage of my loaner truck to pick up a US General top chest to go with my matching Roller Cabinet with a 25% off coupon. Now have to figure a way to get the 100+ lb chest onto the Roller.

Honestly, feel you there.
I go out of my way to try to do the right thing environmentally with fluids etc and it is exceedingly and stupidly complicated to get rid of vehicle fluids the correct/safe way.

Car parts stores take only oil, no filters generally.
Brake fluid? Good luck finding a place.
Coolant after a flush? Was lucky that our company has a big tote of waste glycol-based products.

I'll always do my best to do the right thing. But local municipalities, recycling places and waste management places make it so hard to do it right, it's like they want people to dump dangerous chemicals in unapproved places.

Fortunately, here it's not hard to recycle coolant but I do have brake fluid I don't know how to recycle.

I don't recycle oil filters due to options available. Just let them drain before throwing away.

I found this thread and got the idea from there:
https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/diy-wheel-cribbing.173104/

I cut the 2x4's into 16" lengths and built the boxes 3 layers high (so they're 4.5" tall). I built 12 boxes total to give me options for height. I added a couple of extra 2x4's to 4 of the boxes to serve as the tops to give the tires a little extra surface area to rest on. All in all, pretty easy project. And I feel MUCH safer with these instead of jack stands with ramps under the wheels.

Dumb question I know but how do you get the car up high enough to sit on the blocks?
