I know what you are saying, I just don't want the battery dying. I've heard horror stories about trickle chargers starting fires. Don't know how true it is, but I just don't wanna risk it.
Not true at all. Mine stay on a charger full time. If my car(s) are gonna sit for one week or one year, they’re on a charger. The inverse is not worth it. Spend the few buck for a charger.

Just saying what I've heard, and I do have a trickle charger,

I had a MachE pull up next to me at a light; the light turned green and he/she was off to the races.
My Shelby sounded like Chewbacca gargling as I rowed through the gears while in no hurry, and boy did it sound good.

The MachE sounded like...........????........ well............ let's see?........ sounded like uhmmm.....?... kinda like....... uhhh.... I guess like this:
".........................................................................................................................................................."

Do you have a trickle charger, or a battery maintainer? There is a difference. The old trickle chargers once plugged in, continue to cook the battery, even when dry, and can cause a fire. New battery maintenance, or 'float' chargers read the battery's charge level, and cycle on and off as needed. There is no need to worry about a fire with a quality unit in good working condition.

So I tried this version I much prefer the interface. The on-screen display looks much more modern than the cPlay2Air unit. Thanks for the recommendation!
@Saxgod @SchnellGT350 I got this unit as well but I’ve been having trouble connecting to my iPhone. It works the first time but then half the time it doesn’t re-pair. I have to forget the connection and re-link it. Are you having this trouble? Unless I can make it more reliable I will return it.

Yeah, I have to clear the list on both the device and my iPhone.

Does yours reliably auto connect?

A trickle charger is not what you should be using for long term storage. A battery tender, or maintainer, is what you should be using. Mine is on all winter(about 4 months), and everytime my car is going to sit for a few days unused.
And starting it every once in awhile for a few minutes, doesn't fully charge the battery.
Another advantage of using a battery tender in the cold, winter weather, is it keeps the battery from being damaged by extreme cold. An unused battery's cells can be damaged by extreme cold. And a battery tender will provide some current to it as the voltage begins to drop. This keeps the battery's cells active, and prevents them from freezing and being damaged.
My car is stored outside, so that's an important consideration for me. I had the battery on my atv, also stored outside, die on me during an extremely cold few weeks one winter. I now keep that on a tender too.
