I'm talking from a fuel system point of view, not tune. Can the fuel pump handle the added volume? What about the injectors?
e85 is fine on the pump and injectors on 18's, 18s have dual injection. With a good tune its no problem I believe. Sometimes I do add some ethanol fuel treatment or seafoam to keep stuff lubed but since I drive every day the fuel never has a chance to gum up anything. If I was parking the car for 3 weeks or longer I would switch back to 93 though and store it with 93. E85 also runs cooler and keeps the engine cooler, it has benefits and also makes 40 hp or so extra since its like 105 octane while also being cheaper than even 87 octane here, its only 2.11 a gallon here in Florida.

I know my coyote f150 was flex fuel compatible and I think the fuel system in modern cars is good enough to handle alcohol content. Almost all gas has atleast 10% ethanol anyway.

My MPG is about 11.8 though lol

I think the 17s need injectors to run e85. Fuel pump should be ok.

The gains won’t be as dramatic in low to mid range though as 11-1 compression doesn’t need the higher octane nearly as much as 12-1 in the 18s.

I went back to 93 yesterday. I filled it up with 13.7 gals of BP 93. I will keep a closer watch to see if I can really feel any difference. Has anybody tried Boostane or Torco with factory tune to see if it made any difference? Just curious as I am NOT sold on the snake oils known as octane boosters.

They aren't snake oils. They do actually up the octane in the tank. Doubtful if you're "feel" any difference. But I can tell you that I've datalogged several different cars on the track and all of them were able to take more timing when the octane was upped via using VP Racing Octanium.

The best tank of fuel I ever bought was at the new Shell station just north of the tool booth on the Foley Beach Express. Visited my sister in Foley, cruised Orange Beach and PC beach needed fuel badly. That 93 octane tank got me 35 MPG and did include a few 95 MPH 'bursts' on the way home.

Octane booster works, but not in any real measurable amount, unless you are using a lot.

"10 octane points = 1 octane level at the gas pump. Gumout Octane Booster increases the octane of fuel by 8 points or by 0.8 levels. Although this may vary depending on the amount of fuel treated and the source of the gasoline itself."

https://gumout.com/faqs/how-much-do...increase-the-octane-rating-of-fuel/?locale=en

If you want to spend $30/can, this stuff should do the trick. Wouldn't be bad for dyno tuning or making some passes at the drag strip.

Comparing Gumout Octane booster to Octanium (or Boostane) is apples to oranges.

It follows the "you get what you pay for" theme. Gumout technically works, but not in the way you think. It's also much cheaper, so when you don't notice anything you aren't upset because you didn't spend much.

I never understood why someone would spend $45000ish for a performance car and use less than half the performance 99.99 percent of the miles driven (i.e. everyone who doesn't keep the car at the drag strip and flatbed it back to the pits at the end of each run).

Actually I do understand but when in Rome...........
You are not wrong however your statement is pretty much true for most drivers regardless of the vehicle they own. I agree the % goes up with more performance, but probably not much. How many people do you see outside of the occasional nut using their car to the limit? The difference with the topic here is most cars on the road won't benefit at all using fuel above 87. GT's and many others will. Granted, performance may not be significantly better, but it is better, even for the occasional time you feel like a nut.

There's also a common misconception of what octane ratings are.

Octane ratings are a fuel's resistance to auto-ignition. As such the only performance enhancement is allowing higher temperatures in the chambers before the knock sensors start pulling power due to uncontrolled burning.

If your octane rating far exceeds the engines ability to have uncontrolled fuel burn, that is money wasted. The ideal is to be just on the ragged edge of auto-ignition.

Higher temps ?
I think it's more complicated than that.
Not ....Pulling power & rating exceeds engines ability to have uncontrolled burn isn't accomplished on 87 in the gen 3..,,period end
My Dealer delivered on 87.....93 since and would never choose 87 after 1 tank.
Crap gas shows the ugly all the time...it's definitely not reserved for 7500rpm

End of day.... buy what ever You want

Pretty sure if you use 87 in a lamborghini you'll get a visit from some men in 3-piece suits sporting fedoras & carrying violin cases knocking at the trailer door...
Now that's funny right there!

I got 13.78 gallons today, from the other dedicated station I have access to, it ran barely better after thirty seconds because it liked the cold fuel. I'm much happier with the expensive fuel.
