There have been several crank snapping Prochargers.

The tension pulling perpindicular to the crank wears on the crank/cranksprocket area and compound that with 6-8k rpm...snap

No your Paxton won't do that!!!!
Well i tell u what,if that tensioner i s breaking cranks with just 200 miles after install P.C is in trouble, problem is thats not the case, not everyone can install one of these kits,as easy as it is for some of us some just dont have mechanical ability and i can assure u in this case that had something to do with this.

The only thing good that has come from Florida is Cuban sandwiches, no income tax and 29 electoral votes in the last election. Sorry to disappoint I won't be driving to Florida... I know, you will say I am afraid or whatever but you obviously have more done in fuel work than I do as well as transmission. So not really a race of equals is it. Plus what is the point of wasting gas to get beat by you? So you can hush me up? Still doesn't prove a point, you have more done...

I have and still stand on I will beat any mod for mod Paxton...

Offer stands to anyone in Dallas, 93 vs 93 Paxton vs PC.

And the Procharger intake tube issue was 2 years ago on less than 3 people...have you seen any relevant post since?
Then show me "mod for mod" a procharged car faster than me.. oh wait they need to step up to race series blowers to compete.

Put 50lbs in your hand with your arm straight out then put the 50lbs by your elbow with your arm straight out. Tell me which one creates less stress. .
I'm not on any side of the argument here and I get what you're saying but it's more like last knuckle on your fingers and the finger tips.

Lol yeah I was a little worried folks would think I broke!

First I want to say I am not the least bit worried about mine breaking. I am 100% it was an install error. He says he is a 20 year mechanic etc... but after 186 miles and it snapping there is something else going on here. Now if we see a bunch of 5000 milers popping then I will be the first to pony up for a class action...

Secondly, I really just wanted to share to see if there are "avoidable" install issue that could have caused this. PC being a popular kit if there are things others can avoid that this guy F'd up it would makes sense to bring those issues up. That's why I prefaced the post with stfu about other vs. PC... This is the first time I have even heard of this being an issue and it hasn't been brought up on this forum at all.

It's funny how people say they know 4 or 5 folks this has happened to like that is a ton relative to the amount of kits out there. How many guys on this forum run S2 kits? How many have they sold this year? Not really a relevant worry considering any other 8/10 rib set up does the exact same thing the PC kit does.

As for the Paxton guys who pipe up about how there design is better blah blah... seriously, once you step out of the D1 vs 2200 series blowers Paxton owners just STFU because they just don't compete. So cool story your basic Paxton kit is equal to a D1 set up and you saved 1k on cost. I could give 2 shits about that ugly ass kit that flops its dick over the front of your motor and calls it an intake. Your baby is ugly, so stop trying to tell us it's all about the power. If that were the case you would have gone turbo so go troll else where.

Any guys feel like getting walked by a PC feel free to come out to Dallas and you can get the business... 93 vs 93 I'll roll your asses...
I do. :D Also where is Procharger in this thread? I thought they were a vendor here.

Of course stories like this need to reappear as I wait for my stage 2 kit to hopefully show up this week lol I knew this COULD happen which is why I almost went with the HO kit and an upgraded intercooler. But at the same time I liked the idea of an independent belt system for the blower so you can still get home if the belt were to snap. From what I've read, this happening is a VERY rare instance. I'm with Op on wanting to know how we can avoid this from happening. This case in particular was likely a bad install.

With the way the cam locks work on the 8rib system the extra load is not on the crank bolt. Its almost like making two pulley into one,the cam locs loc the procharger pulley to the stock pulley, all the load is on the stock pulley. Is their extra weight yes but nothing thats going to break the crank.Just make sure u get the cam locs right!!!.

I know this will be near impossible to diagnose, but seems the most logical that it was an install issue. If I had to guess, crank bolt loosened up, walked out, allowed the damper to also walk forward, thereby REALLY increasing the side load or went out of balance as it moved further out on the crank and it snapped her.

To the OP - whats the condition of the blower? No signs it seized or ingested something?

How would there not be extra stress when you add an extesnion further out from the stock pulley with a belt pulling sideways on it?

A little drama (not LS1tech drama) is what this site needs as long as its not disrespectful, shame posting videos of street encounters are frowned upon.
