My 2014 charger looks like new on the exterior and has very minimal surface rust on the chassis after 10 years of michigan roads and salt. I wash the salt off as soon as temps get above freezing and have it detailed once every spring. Mustang will be treated similarly but spared from the vast majority of snow and salt.

I drive my Mach 1 in the rain, but Cali weather is a joke compared to what some of you folks go through. If I lived in state with a heavy winter I would get a F150 or similar for that.

My car doesn't have much ground clearance, so I have to wait for clear roads and parking lots. I also have a real issue with seeing over snow banks when trying to pull out, into traffic.

We don't really get snow and ice like a lotta you folks up north over here, but the Mustang is my daily driver... so yeah, I would, hah. Thankfully I WFH, and my wife's car is better suited for these conditions, so I probably wouldn't need to, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

My Mustang has never seen rain or snow, going on six years now. My wife and I actually have seven vehicles between the two of us. The snow beater is usually the ‘05 4Runner or one of the Grand Cherokees.

I'm in the no I wouldn't and no I don't drive it in the bad winter stuff. BUT the post saying it's not an investment, wait I didn't buy my Mustang as an investment. It just the Pony car I've wanted and waited for many years. So I'm going to keep it nice just for me, for my smile per mile value. Just because folks can afford to not drive them when it's crappy out doesn't automatically mean we think investment.

The debate over status as an investment was made in reference to the OP's statement in their first post. I don't think anybody made a broad sweeping statement to include all non-winter drivers to consider their car an investment.

saw a bmw m3 dark blue with black quad tips with glose blak rims at the grocery yesterday, beatiful car, however the roades where covered in salt due to the recent snow storm and i was thinking why would you drive that car under these conditions, salt ,sluch, snow. my mustang is garage kept during the winter.
my friend told me they like to drive there cars and not just look at them in storage. Ok i get it but i am not subjecting my investment to winter elemants. Would YOU ?

You see it as an "investment," I see it as a toy I'd like to keep until the day I die. I've already raced through the icy Utah mountains on the lovely Route 6, and through two blizzards over freshly salted roads. Moment I arrived home, it went through an undercarriage wash twice

She has seen EVERY type of weather you can imagine:

• Blizzards
• Rain
• Hurricanes (only one so far, Harvey!)
• Two tornados
• Hail
• Sandstorms
• Iced over roads
• Flooding

And the list will just keep growing!
I'm going to have fun with her until it's my time to pass. Until then, she's getting all the love through whatever repairs come my way. On my eight year of ownership since she was brand new, and 75,000 miles down.

Coming up next week, she's going to have some rings & dings repaired, then get a full paint correction treatment. Shortly after that, some paint protection film

I would not.

My take on this is that there are beaters and proper cars. And then there are BMWs that are just overpriced proper cars. Sure the car is there, but it doesn't justify the price tag.

Yes.

My cars are not paperweights. They were meant to be driven.

I daily two mustang convertibles - rain, snow sleet or shine. So much fun.
I also drive my viper launch edition all year round in decent weather as long as there isn't snow on the road.
Mag Chloride doesn't bother me, I just wash off the cars when I can. Would rather put in the extra effort to protect cars I like driving over storing it away for months on end and feeling miserable driving some lame SUV or a beater.

Not only would I, I actually do. Raining now so a lot of the salt has been rinsed off by Mother Nature. But I will be going to the touchless wash this week as well. Finally above freezing after a week and a half of well below freezing temps

That grime is a sign of ownership love!

It doesn't bother me to drive anything i own or would own all year around. Especially on cars that depreciate every year whether it's driven or not.
