94 is the highest grade here and my car is tuned for it. The gas came from my local gas station , I ran the dyno on a half tank of gas
You've done 2 dyno runs, on 2 separate occasions. Detail out the exact situation with the gas in the tank for those 2 occasions. Did you put the gas in the tank yourself both times? Did you get gas from the same place both times?

Look, I'm 90% certain it's a gas thing. It's possible someone at your shop dropped some octane boost in the tank for the 1st dyno run, or you got some bad gas for the 2nd dyno run. Maybe you didn't pay attention, and you put the wrong octane gas in before the 2nd dyno run. With the temps cooler for the 2nd dyno run, the power should have been higher.

Any other differences you can think of? Any other mods you've done between the 2 runs?

I'd also consider what the real benefits are from a CAI, LTHers, and a tune. The CAI probably does nothing, if not actually a negative, the LTHers might help a bit, and the tune is the main change.

No other mods...

I fill up at the same gas station every time, and i always triple check for 94 octane. The car went into the shop the first time it got FBO with a full tank of 94.

Today, it went in with a half tank of 94 from the same station.

It’s a high reputable shop, one of the best in my province.

So, it's possible that the shop fudged something, like dropping some octane boost into the tank.

Or, the station got a bad load of gas. Maybe the tanker truck driver put the wrong fuel in the wrong under-ground tank. That's the most likely explanation.

Seems unlikely my shop messed with the fuel. They even told me my car made one of the highest they seen from the mods they added.

Hmmm, could just be the bad fuel.

Oooooh........don't assume they didn't drop some octane boost in there. Some customer spends serious $$, the shop will definitely want to show that the money spent can be shown on a dyno run.

Since the mods you did probably don't add much power (others might chime in with their experiences, with different results), dropping some octane booster into the tank for the 1st dyno run is the best way to assure a happy customer.

It's sales dude. Lots of smoke and mirrors in sales.

But for now, just forget about it.

But my mods were making the correct numbers initially... Of anything my car is super underpowered given what i’ve done to it now.

I understand the sales aspect of it, but that’s dishonest business

You need to find someone with the same mods as you, and see what HP ratings they've gotten on the dyno. The 1st run seems too high to me. Is that 472 supposed to be at the crank? Or at the wheels?

472 to the wheel... That’s not even amazing. It should be higher to be honest. A lot of big companies like hell horse promote 470+.

i replaced old sparkplugs and add fresh 93 from shell and recovered 12 whp... the first time my gas was like 2 months old and the sparkplugs were the ones from the factory... so basically i did a tune up, added fresh fuel and voila...

when i saw the numbers under 400 rwhp i almost cried lol

470HP + how? Like, some sort of package deal?

If it's 472 at the wheel, with 10% loss through the driveline, that's around 520 at the crank, for the first dyno run. 455 at the wheels should equal around 500HP at the crank, for the 2nd dyno run.

I really don't think the mods you've done will create 60HP over stock. I'd think 40 (or less) over stock is more realistic.

It’s realistic, some people make 480-490.

Anyways, the stage 2 whipple makes 825 , not to mention i have headers, it’ll be like 840 ish. This won’t matter next year when i’m pushing 800+... I won’t care as much.

I was just going to say the same thing.

Years ago, all car companies would go to the most optimal places to get the most HP out of there cars. Elevation and temperature play a factor in HP. Then they were mandated to test HP ratings under the same conditions. This was back in 2005 I think. Honda had promoted my 06 Civic Si as 200HP but under the revision it went to 197HP.
I remember that. They changed to the SAE standard. The rsx type s went from 210hp in 2005 to 201hp in 2006.

Higher humidity + higher DA is always a horsepower killer. Always make note of temps and humidity, + always log it. Remember too inside a shop humidity can be very different than outside. Anyways if you logged the first time then you can compare to the other times. Did I mention log it ? On high humidity days I can feel a HP loss with my junk.
