But why would I touch it? I still have to touch the door handle and doing that unlocks the door. You guys do know that modern Ford/Lincoln “keypad” is completely invisible unless you’re touching it, right?![]()

Because you locked the keys and your other personal belongings in your car for safe keeping. ie: you parked your car somewhere that you were going jogging, boating, swimming, hiking, streaking, flash mob dance in spandex, etc. You then can unlock your car via the keypad code without the need of a key or fob.But why would I touch it? Still don't need it. I can mimic Chuck Norris' voice perfectly. I just tell any car to unlock.....or else.Because you locked the keys and your other personal belongings in your car for safe keeping. ie: you parked your car somewhere that you were going jogging, boating, swimming, hiking, streaking, flash mob dance in spandex, etc. You then can unlock your car via the keypad code without the need of a key or fob.
I personally have no use for this, my comment was on the notion of it looking “outdated” in someway when the majority of Ford/Lincoln owners who have it don’t even know it exists due to it being completely invisible and integrated into one of the window pillars.
My 87 year old Dad has it on his 1996 Lincoln Towne Car..he likes it.Because that was so 90’s.....

I know this reply I quoted is old, but........Facial recognition maybe...

Only if you have the fobBut why would I touch it? I still have to touch the door handle and doing that unlocks the door.
to criminals. Ford like the rest of Detroit hasn't the foggiest notion how to do security correctly. Then again BMW and VW also have just incredibly stupid screwups time and again. The automotive industry as a whole should never be trusted with security in anything it does.I can't believe people do not understand the tremendous value to the keypad.
(MSBOB)s Cousin.I opted for the $1600 chip-implant-at-base-of-brain option (CIABOB). Opens and starts without a fob.
App? Just have someone punch you in the kidneys. That'll press the right 'buttons'. I'd hate to fetch the fob every 36 hrs, wipe it off and re-swallow it though. Can't taste very good the Nth time where N>=2.Swallow the fob. You'll always have it with you, and if you need remote start, you can use the app.
