I love to drive. I think only a manual gives you the full driving experience!

Driving the Mustang GT with a nice exhaust and a manual is like playing a very powerful musical instrument. You get a thrill doing it every time you go anywhere! Get the stick and enjoy it for years!!

Whenever I see a sports coupe with a automatic I ask myself why? I know a manual is not for everyone, but if you want to rip 50% of the experience, fun and challenge out of driving, by all means go with the auto.

That was the nicest thing that I could think of. IMHO, all performance or sports cars should be manual...period. I don't agree with any of this, "less efficient, slower and less practical". This maybe true for someone that has very little experience with a manual.
With modern autos what I said is true. More gears, faster shifting, and none of the drivetrain loss like old school autos.

Doesn't matter how fast a human can shift; an auto will at least match his best and do it every time. Any competitive auto will shift faster than humanly possible, too.

Dude, you won't regret it. I have never owned a manual and I went to drive the S550 a couple of weeks ago. All I can tell you is I might never go back to automatic again, not on a sports car at least. The clutch was so soft and the gears short. I even went to stop and go traffic with not problems whatsoever. Seriously get manual. You're going to like the way it drives, I guarantee it!! I'm getting manual with PP.

I'll also be ordering a manual. For me, it just adds more fun to the driving experience and the Mustang won't be my only vehicle. My Cherokee is an automatic so I have the best of both worlds.

 Guess I should turn in my "real driver" and "manly man" cards. Or maybe I'll just enjoy my bad-ass GT with its bullet-proof automatic and keep laughing at all the chest pounding that occurs every time this topic comes up.

It's a preference, folks. Drive both, pick your poison, and be happy!

If you've never owned a manual transmission car before, you owe it to yourself to do it at least once. Experiencing different things is what life's all about.

All the reasons previously posted are all great reasons to drive a manual. I do it because it makes me feel more connected to the car, and I just plain enjoy it, regardless of how much traffic I drive in.

I read somewhere that Mustangs have one of the highest manual trans take rate in the industry. Doesn't surprise me.

A manual makes slow cars feel fast, and fast cars feel even more exciting, even at slower speeds. That's the clincher for me - the fun-to-MPH ratio is higher for a manual than an automatic. Just my opinion.

Most automatics are hopeless. After you've driven a manual for a while you grow to resent having a daft bot choosing your gears for you. The two of you will have artistic differences in opinion over which gear is appropriate for the moment.

However, the Mustang's auto is quite good. Most people don't realize even the first generation Mustang was available with an automatic. Choose what you're comfortable with and don't let anyone put you down :headbang:

Hey Guys

I want to get a GT and can't decide if I should get a manual. I have never driven a manual car but getting a GT without a manual seems be just wrong, just wrong I say. Sad thing is that the wife can drive stick, I guess I could let her teach me, oh the embarrassment.

I'm guessing with 400 pounds of torque it can be that hard to learn.
Whatever. I'm loving my automatic. Tons of fun! I drove the stick too and it's a blast no-doubt. If I was driving on a track or open road every day I would have gotten the stick. But this is my DD and unfortunately most of my time is in traffic and stop and go, and I'm glad I got the auto. I took to the paddle shifters on the open road, and that was pretty fun. No regrets!

I taught my wife to drive a stick in 1984 in our Honda which we sold in 1988. I have a 2012 boss 302 that I never let her drive. Two years ago I bought a 2008 Shelby GT500 and after not driving a stick since 1988 my wife started driving the Shelby to car shows. If she can drive the Shelby you could learn in no time. The 2015 Mustang is the easiest to drive by far of all three. It won't take any time to learn and it will be tons of fun. Manual or auto in a new Mustang, you can't lose. But, my vote goes to the manual.

Manual tranny also takes the guessing game out of when/if this thing is gonna downshift when your attempting to pass someone.
