Is the 2018 compatible with the updated oil filter that started being produced for the 2019+ cars?
Or should I stick with the older filter that is listed in the 2018 manual?

I would go with the 19 filter, imo

Curious what the dealer is putting in now. When they update something that is compatible, they usually use the new.

I just got my 17 changed by the dealer yesterday, they put on FL-2062. Possible they just went off the manual or not sure about the new model. I only had them do it so they can track the oil consumption.

So no consensus I guess? I just want to make sure that if I use the newer filter design I won't run into issues regarding oil pressure, etc.

I’ve posted a thread about it and even asked in a couple other threads, but crickets, thus I guess I’m the only one that’s done it...but I swapped to the 2087 and my oil pressure I higher across the board; all temps, all driving conditions. Has not caused any issues but it’s always weird when you see a change like that. There is zero reason mechanically to not run this filter or for it to not be backwards compatible.

interesting data point. i'd hope FP would be able to tell us definitively. i will need to find out which to use pretty soon as my oil change is coming up.

Ok I know I am going to be an outcast for posting this but I sincerely hope that my Gen 1 (in my 2017) with the old canister filter holds together because I really like that filter. Yes, they perhaps tend to loosen over time but it takes 10 minutes to climb under the car with a torque wrench to check it. The 5.2 was engineered with that filter so it must mean something.

Could the rise in oil pressure after your oil change be attributed to fresh oil with higher viscosity than your old oil (which had a lower viscosity due to shearing over time)?

No. That’s been asked, but no. I know what my oil pressure looks like after a fresh oil change. This ain’t it.

I also installed a 2087 on my last oil change and noticed the same thing
