where are you getting tires changed?

local shop doesn't want to change tire as they don't want to damage rims. They talked about finding a shop that has a no touch tire changer. The rims are oem for pp1 packge.

DIscount tire just put a set on mine. PP Wheels, got a set in stock size installed for winter. No problem. Have always used them in the past and had no issues at all.

Thanks, will have check to see if any around here. I think only ones I saw were a Mavis discount tire. I am not sure if they are one and the same.

Down here in the south east US, there is almost always a Wal mart next door to a Discount Tire. Not sure about Mavis, never heard of that one. As long as they are properly trained and have machines with the proper guards in place to keep wheels from being scratched there shouldn't be an issue.

Many local speed shops do tires, and they usually deal with expensive rims.
Also, I'm guessing you're in NYC area based on you profile? Try Dana Ford in Staten Island. Also, if on LI, try Mustang Magic in Deer Park.

Thanks for all your replies I will have to do the zip code with tire rack and see if something comes up close. I am about 1 hour and 15 minutes from Utica. I am north of syracuse so just a short drive down the thruway.

You should also check to see if they offer the mobile installation service in your area. I use that exclusively now, even when the tires were purchased elsewhere.

Mavis bought out a ton of NTB stores. I always used either Firestone or Discount Tire shop to mount my tires, never been turned away, never had an issue.. even with the big, wide, fatties.

Unfortunately we do not have any brick and mortar stores in the NY area, however our sister company, Tire Rack, may be able to offer mobile installation. We are not affiliated in anyway with Mavis Discount Tire.

I've had the best luck doing what you are already doing, talking with the tire shop. If they are taking the time to talk with you they will typically take the time/care with your wheels. Considering how many tires I've had mounted over the years my experience has been good but recently had new wheels damaged by a well known national chain.

If you get to Syracuse often try Rimdoc. All they do is repair and refinish wheels and mount tires. I've used them a couple times for repairs and mounting. This is their ONLY business so they won't f'up your wheels.
