So the MT-82's 1:1 is 4th now?
That seems to be what the info says.

I really like having 5th be 1:1, and the close ratio feel. Moving to my '14 from an '02 (then back when I drive my mom's '03) The shorter ratios really feel good. The old wide ratio TR-3650 feels like driving a truck, now.

I'd like them to keep the ratios the same, and 5th being 1:1, but reduce the spread between 5th and 6th. The drop is way huge as it is now.

Someone should make a new 6th gear swap kit!

I don't see them getting away from the fuel economy 6th gear in today's environment. The GT350 has almost the same gearing 5th to 6th. It would be nice if we could get it's closer ratios from 1st to 4th though.

Their parts department just looks up vehicles by VIN's and they kinda have "processes" that they follow. Their knowledge could range from enthusiast to "I just work here."

And it's going to be the MT-82. You're in a Mustang forum and you don't know that? Time to find a different car...
In response to this comment. I am used to Ford people knowing their products. Guys that " just work here" or are uninformed DO NOT work the COUNTER or the PHONES until they become knowledgeable. If this is not the case in this area that my friends is unfortunate. A knowledgeable counter man or parts guy are worth their weight in gold.

No-lift shift is available in all gears on all models

Driver can keep the accelerator floored while pushing in the
clutch pedal and shifting gears

Sounds like they are going all out on the MT82 for once, and matching the TR6060 gearing with only 4 underdrive gears and detachable bellhousing.

This is good news as it should give 15-17 owners a solid upgrade choice besides the aforementioned TR6060.

I am real close to ordering a 2018 Premium GT. Does anyone know what type of STANDARD TRANSMISSION if currently being installed into the Mustang. My 2011 had the MT82 and my current 2015 has the Automatic. It's time to go back to rowing the gears. Believe it or not the local dealer, Jones Ford in NC, did not know. Service was no help. Then I called Parts and they did not know I said you work in parts and you don't know??? Time to find another dealer.
My parents use that dealership on a Fusion I bought them and I am NOT impressed with them at all.

Every thing you ever wanted to know about the 2018 is in the document in this thread. It includes what was posted above.

This is from the 2018 eSourceBook in the other thread:

As others have pointed out, the manual transmission ratios are unchanged from last year. Based upon the 6-speed manual info (page 14) in the eSourceBook, this must be incorrect. Does anyone know the 2018 MT82 gear ratios for the V8?

4th is now 1:1? No need for two overdrives

Given how most serious road racers learn quickly that the MT-82 is not up to heavy usage and put in a Tremec, you gotta wonder about the wisdom of the no lift shift feature. I just don't see the MT-82 putting up with a lot of that, to me it's the biggest vulnerability in this car, it just feels weak when driven aggressively.

1st gear with the 3.73's is already borderline useless, lowering that further seems a tad strange, as does having 2 overdriven gears. Of all the stuff on the '18, only the addition of a Tremec would have been interesting enough to look at trading in, IMHO.

Ford must have lots of cash for gearbox warranty I guess.

Where are you guys seeing 2 overdrive and a shorter first gear ratios for the manual? Esource shows the manual ratios have not changed and still have one overdrive ratio. The 10A has three overdrive ratios and first gear is shorter than the 6A's first. 6A did not have a 1 to 1 gear.

Edit to add: I see that the esource conflicts with itself. One section quoted above says two overdrive gears but the table of ratios has only one overdrive. FYI the manual in the Camaro SS has two overdrive ratios and a very tall first gear.

Damn, I never thought I'd see this as a factory feature on any car. Pretty awesome. Seems like it will be well improved over the current MT82.

Corvette zr1 and camaro zr1 both have it. Might also be on other models.

you guys realize the "no lift shift" will NOT be like the power shift we're used to, lol the ecm will momentarily shut the throttle when the clutch is pushed in, no manufacturer, especially Ford would ever do it any other way
