Hello, this is my first post on here. Ive been reading this forum for a year now.
I have a 2016 mustang GT and have been doing stuff to it for a while now but I just ordered a Gen 3 VMP supercharger kit.
I am wondering if there is an automatic transmission stronger than the stock?
I have also been looking around at team beefcakes forged rods, is there any other recommendations out there for other forged internals? I don't want to blow up my engine.

Might want to look at the forced induction section a lot of good threads on there that cover these topics.

2017 auto transmission is good for up about 1000hp. I would upgrade the oil pump gears to billet gears for starters.

Unless your planning on maga hp. You dont need forged internals. I upgraded the timing sprocket & OPG just for piece of mind. And I don’t intend to go over 750whp. The stock transmission is good to go.

You can build your 6R80 to hold 1200-1600hp. Outside of that, you can put a glide or TH400 in it.

Whats your whp goal?

It's a matter of chance, some will have problems and some wont, but generally if you're under 800whp the stock motor will be fine. Some run even higher than that. Best bet is to keep the motor stock and when it breaks one day, then go built/forged. There's a good chance it will last quite some time.

Read up on the OPG/CG. Raised RPM and HP can break them. It's still pretty rare, but it can happen and if they break they'll generally take the whole motor with it. It's good insurance to upgrade them beforehand.

Problems with the 6R80 transmission are pretty rare also even up to the 1kwhp area. Most common breaking point is the torque converter so that can just be swapped out for a Circle D if it breaks. If you're tracking it the intermediate shaft or clutches can give out also, but all this is upgradable so you can keep the same trans and be good to the 1500whp mark. Other transmissions like the TH400 will not be too street-friendly so I recommend staying with the 6R80.

As said though, your mileage may vary. You could go 100k miles on stock everything or it could give out after 10 miles. My stock motor is solid after 45k miles but I've broken my 6R80 four times at under 800whp. I'm a rarity though, don't let that scare you. Just goes to show you never know what will happen once you start modifying.

There are shops that can upgrade the internals (clutches, intermediate shaft etc.) for a decent price.

If you're looking to get rid of the trans TH400 or Glide would be your best bet. More costly for sure, but could be necessary depending on your goals.
