Replaced my factory red tails with ford clear tails today. Looks amazing, fit and finish was as expected from OEM parts. While removing the drivers side I had to work around this box. Google says the part number is a WiFi module. I’ve got a pretty low optioned M1 so I’m just wondering what it does and what features I’m missing out or not using.

Yes, that appears to be the module that enables WiFi within the car. I think it’s also the same one that runs FordPass if I’m not mistaken.

Search for Ford selling information and you will know what purpose that part serves. Many have disconnected.
Yep, @Tomster has a whole thread on it on the forum

So, without reading further, I'm guessing it's a spy of sorts?

If you connect your phone and car via the FordPass app, yes. FordPass collects all kinds of data. I don’t like it but I like the convenience of remote start in the winter and summer so I live with it. Every other app does the same thing unfortunately.

Mine's an '18 and doesn't interact with Ford Pass. I have to be within sight distance to remote start. I'm OK with that though.
Still, that doesn't mean I don't think they are spying...

It's what Ford screwed 2019 BULLITT owners out of!, saying we had FORDPASS access, when we didn't because no modem installed.

If I unplug that does that mean the government can't track me anymore?
I think the issue was more along the lines of getting your info sold to insurance companies. Go to a track, race throughout the day, few weeks later your rates would sky rocket & no idea how. But I believe you disconnect fuse for telekematics (misspelled I'm sure) & problem gets solved. You still get to use wifi, just not ford pass or your data gets sold.

Also your car is saving %100 of your text messages, & that one did get used against someone who committed a crime. Law suit in some state over it but people lost the suit.

Worried about others having something you don't?

Well, I guess that makes my GT better than your bullitt?
