Both of the ‘19 & ‘17 I owned had the dreaded vibration in the rear end area - so I’m thinking of buying a ‘23 - has there been any complaints of this still being a problem?

I was and currently am a victim of this problem. Didn't learn my lesson with my daily driven 2021 "lemon" and took a chance on a 2023 as a weekend car. Same symptoms after about 100 miles: mild vibration and shimmy starting at around 50-55 mph and smoothing out after 70. Not wheel nor tire related. Not alignment related. Ford dealer service departments called it "within spec".

Others are more educated on the issue and can explain it better but I understand that it is a engineering blunder related to the driveshaft/couplings between that and the transmission and rear end. If that is the case, the problem won't be fully resolved without a radical re-engineering of all those assemblies - and that includes the newer 7G platform which I believe is identical in those areas.

A very knowledgeable member of this board described it as "buying a 30K+ Ford vibrator...lol

...but it looks and sounds amazing

Maybe I'm an outlier...2015 vehicle, no rear-end vibrations.
Just swapped over to a torsen rear-end from a 2021 vehicle with matching driveshaft and no vibrations after testing.

I do have my IRS completely aligned and have diff bushing inserts installed at all 4 mount points and I'd expect to feel more with stiffer mount points.

Put a hose clamp on the driveshaft. Go for a drive and move it around in increments until the vibration is gone. I have a 15 and did this. Problem solved. The driveshafts aren’t balanced as well as they should be. Start with the head of the clamp (screw part) close to the weight that has been welded onto the driveshaft. Closest to the rear end by the pumpkin.

Might be time for an aftermarket driveshaft. I just installed a Steeda one piece ds in my 2019 Bullitt and so far, it’s been super smooth up to 80 mph. I haven’t pushed it past that point yet, but I certainly intend to in due time.

With the Steeda 1-piece, did you have to make any reference marks for the install - or is there any reference marks on the Steeda for install - meaning more so for any proper alignment?

I know when removing any existing driveshaft and having to reinstall, that the pinion flange as well as the driveshaft flange (and with a 2-piece, the front trans flange and forward driveshaft flange should also be marked as extra precaution) to avoid any issues with NVH upon reinstallation of same driveshaft.

Yes, it has reference marks on it. There was an issue with mine that I caught during installation. You can read about it here. Steeda is now aware of the issue and sending out updated bolts.

2021 M1 had the vibration from day one. Ended up being the driveshaft. Took them about 3 months to diagnose/replace, but it’s been vibration free since. Currently has about 4500 mi

Can someone please tell me what year this vibration first showed up - I’m thinking about buying another, but not a vibrator - lol

Here are some pics of the rubber bandaids that Ford uses help mask NVH on the factory ds. Why else would they opt to build these cars with a 2 piece ds over a 1 piece?

every time but one i had vibration issues, it wasnt balance - but an out of round tire.
They will balance, but still give you vibration, and changes with speed.

Not saying it isnt driveshaft related as mentioned here - but tires can be oval, eg.
Id run down that possibility if you havent already. Apparently its visible with an experienced balancer opeator, or using a road force balancer.

The difference after a new tire has always been remarkable.

my experience with my 2015 v6 and the 2020 gt, i consider myself lucky they are smooth after reading this.

Ordered an aluminum from DSS arriving tomorrow for my Bullitt. Not looking for power gains, just a snappier and better driving experience. What's your experience?
