Do you experience vibration and rumbling between 50 and 70 mph?

Mine was an overall shake and definite buzzing sound...no swaying of vehicle. The custom aluminum DS pretty much cured it immediately and has stayed that way. Yours sounds like previous post of maybe loose IRS sub-frame.

Humm ... I'm going to have to come up with a way to measure the left/right position of both rear tires with respect to the body to see what I see. I would think if that is true, that a 4-wheel alignment would show something like that being off.
So I measured the distance of each rear wheel from the lip of the fenders and they both seem to be sitting at the same distance.

When I get the car back (or if I get it back) and I still have the issue, I've already priced out a one piece driveshaft and some new half shafts. The more I read about this problem, the more I am convinced this is a faulty driveshaft and half shaft issue. In the rush to produce and get the car to market, Ford cut some corners and the driveshaft and half shafts weren't strong enough for this car.

Will know this week.

I get a little side to side wobble under 20 mph, kind of like the tires are egg-shaped, but that goes away at higher speeds. My main issue is the rumbling that starts at precisely 50 mph, just like flipping a switch. it sounds just like driving on rumble strips, except much less pronounced. It lessens as speed increases, and is down to a tolerable level by 80 mph.

The vibration & noise is like driving on a shorter version of the rumble strips that the DOT puts on the sides of highways. My rumble occurs from 45-70 mph, with the peak being beween 50-55 mph.

Yeah, but not so much scary as just aggravating as all get out. Well, at least I can get a vigorous finger massage if I have my hands at 9 and 3 and rest my fingers on the shift paddles. They vibrate like there's no tomorrow. Funny thing is, I can feel bumps in the road even at slower speeds, through these paddles.
I double checked today and sure enough, shifting gears has no effect on this whooping vibration. Maybe it is the driveshaft like old ford guy suggested. Wonder if Ford would entertain doing something like this. :)

Why does this car even have a 2-piece drive shaft?

I agree .... if a one piece aftermarket drive shaft seems to cure the issue, then why can't Ford come up with one?

Cost....very simple. Every part is priced to produce the cheapest bang for Ford's buck......

^^^ Seems like a one piece drive shaft would be less parts and less cost than a 2-piece.

Guess I really need to find someone help me jack up and check the sub-frame and all bolts. See if they are loose or something. My sub-frame was replaced and maybe something is loose. Just wish I could work on my car myself and not be so physically limited. Dealer already said they would check and redo alignment if needed. Mine only does it over 65 MPH and bumps in road upset the car. I've never felt anything like it in my millions of miles driven over my years.

Not necessarily. If they are using the same drive shaft for multiple platforms, it would cost more to develop one for just the mustang. Further, production costs are cheaper for this two piece design.

I doubt the same exact drive shaft assy used in the S550 Mustang is used in any other vehicle Ford manufactures.

I wondered about this myself. I'll bet after replacing a bunch of driveshafts and even a few cars, that one piece driveshaft idea is starting to look better and better to Ford!

Hey everyone, I'm have the same exact issue where a rumble strip like vibration starts at 55mph to 65mph. After 65mph it starts to disappear. I've had it at the dealer and they verified the concern. They have replaced the drive-shaft and basically gave up and told me they exhausted their options after 9 days at the shop with no loaner or rental. Before I took it to them I balanced and road forced the tires myself. Very annoying to the point I don't enjoy driving the car anymore. Very dissatisfied with Ford and the dealer thus far.
I have a Mustang GT PP 6MT
