Hey everyone, I'm have the same exact issue where a rumble strip like vibration starts at 55mph to 65mph. After 65mph it starts to disappear. I've had it at the dealer and they verified the concern. They have replaced the drive-shaft and basically gave up and told me they exhausted their options after 9 days at the shop with no loaner or rental. Before I took it to them I balanced and road forced the tires myself. Very annoying to the point I don't enjoy driving the car anymore. Very dissatisfied with Ford and the dealer thus far.
I have a Mustang GT PP 6MT
Sorry to hear that, man. I guess all we can do is keep on them until they get enough complaints to issue a TSB. Send a PM to FordService and they can put you in touch with a CSM that can possibly get you a loaner and refer you to another dealer.

Best of luck, and let us know of any future developments. And welcome to the forum BTW!

Sounds like Ford needs to come out with a one piece drive shaft via TSB for the fix.

I thought this fix was hit & miss...mostly a miss?

And I still think its off-center IRS sub-frame and crap for suspension parts.

New drive shaft (ford anyway) did not completely clear it up. We'll see what they say tomorrow as the next area to fix....

My car is currently back at the dealer. Driveshaft was replaced and solved nothing.

They are bringing in the Ford Rep (for whatever that is worth) to help identify and correct the condition. I was provided a loaner so can only wait and see.

The engineer from Ford will probably assign the same diagnostic code as they did to mine: WC 987165-A.

Translated it means: "Dealer reports excessive noise coming from customer. Considered normal. No repair is authorized".

The runaround begins......Ford technical support has no idea what to do. My regional rep writes it may take another week to figure it out....

Another week means 15 days out of service (car was in service for another issue one day after I took delivery). Thirty cumulative calendar days and it's a lemon. Looks like we are going to be half way there. I did file a complaint with NHTSA as well.

Ford is going to replace the driveshaft again and the left and right half shafts. Should be done by Monday. We'll see.

As of today the car has been at the dealer for 1 week and 1 day. They told me yesterday they were checking the driveline run out and see if it was in spec. They will then talk with Ford and decide if ring and pinion needs to be replaced or the whole rear end.

What it sounds like is that they still do not know what is going on. Very frustating that my "new" car is sitting in the dealer and I am stuck driving a loaner. NOT HAPPY

This whole time I have been wondering why they didn't use a one-piece DS, but last night I read something interesting on another forum. Someone speculated that the two-piece DS was implemented for safety reasons. Presumably, in a severe frontal impact, the two-piece DS will allow the engine/trans to deflect downward, away from the passenger compartment. OTOH, a one-piece could possibly keep that from happening, and could transfer the force rearward towards the fuel tank.

I don't know if this is true, but it does seem to make sense. Are there any Ford engineers out there that want to shed some light on this for us?

Not a Ford engineer but interesting question. This link has one explanation.

Two weeks as of Monday for me. Let's see, I have a performance car, but I am driving a Chevy Sonic right now.... (yes, they gave me a Chevy to drive). :headbonk:
