Hey billq sounds just like my experience.Did you read my post # 213. Still can't decide if its fixed or just 90 % better.May have a little vibration or it could be just road/tire noise.
I noticed both of you had V6s ... so wondering if they tires they are using on the V6 aren't too great of there are showing up bad on a road force balancer.

I originally thought tires were my problem as well (base model V6/Hankooks), but repeated road force balancing has made no improvement on mine. Plus, I was vibration free for 1000 miles on the same tires after the drive shaft replacement.

Although the noise that came back sounds exactly the same as the original noise, it could be something completely different, so I have no idea.

I have a GT auto and the same problem. My dealer looked at it and also thought driveshaft. New one will be installed tomorrow. Tires might give some vibration and noise, but not this.

Well, got the car back after the new tire & balancing. The service mgr, who has followed this since I first brought it in, said he still felt it. And, apparently there is another '15 in with vibration... so service is saying, let's let Ford follow this, we've run out of options, without further guidance.
So, "'thank you for your patience but we'll have to wait for Ford now." I just wonder how long I'll have to wait.
I just took the car for a spin, and the vibration starts a little earlier and is more noticeqable than before the replacement. But now the vibration seems stronger thru the seat... usually typical of a rear imbalance situation and probably completely coincidental, but that is where they put the new tire!

Ya, not sure why this stang is different from my last, except for the IRS. Wonder what Ford will come up with now that they have at least 2 stangs in my dealer's service dep't with this issue. I've had cars with some pretty good size tires and don't recall ever feeling this kind/type of vibration before.

Man, that must be aggravating to have a vibration come back like that.
When I was out testing her out tonight, I was thinking- Jeez, I like this car... then I merged onto the highway and the feeling just went right out the window. Sigh.

Well, I get the car back by Thursday, but it won't have new parts in it. Ring and pinion are back ordered so they are going to put it back together and I will drive it until the parts get here. Car has been out of service for 3 weeks of the four months I have owned it and I am just about done. Very good chance i will close out June with another new car. I honestly expected so much more from Ford, but I am so disappointed that the initial quality of my car is not closer to that of my past cars including a stupid Dodge! (No offense to Dodge owners intended) :)

And Billq, I know just how you feel about driving it. Adore this car until i hit highway speeds.

Kinda wondering if all these vibration issues are due to Ford use of flimsy a$$ bushings for the IRS. I mentioned that to 2 of their chassis engineers. Of course their comeback was "it rides nice".

Also some cars apparently have the entire IRS sub-frame misaligned from the factory 1/2" left to right; bet the dealerships don't even know that to be the case. :tsk:

Steeda sells the bushing kit and may be worth a try: http://www.steeda.com/steeda-s550-mustang-irs-subframe-alignment-kit-2015-all-555-4438/

Funny, I was thinking the same thing about the bushings, since only the IRS is new to the model. Wasn't aware there might be misalignment.

Well Ford did not overnight the part to my dealer. So I wait. The service rep made no bones about it, he said, "the car is unsafe to drive until this gets fixed. You will have it tomorrow...." We'll see......
The dealer has been pretty good with this. They are getting frustrated with Ford as well.

Note

This has already been mentioned. But on 2013 (solid axle) mustangs with 3.73 rear ends, there was a notorious situation where a drive-line vibration was normal, and in at least one case, the owner bought his car in Jan 2015, then returned it by May 2015, all due to the vibration. I believe one person got it "fixed" but it involved replacing a few things in the differential. If a solid axle car was able to "fix" the vibration and it had the 2-piece driveshaft, it is reasonable to assume the issue is focused within something in the rear end.

There are 1 million threads online which talk about drive-line vibration for 2005 and up mustangs. There are threads for SN95 cars also but those use a one-piece driveshaft with normal yokes at each end, so those cars had a different method to reduce the vibration. This vibration situation seems to have always existed in the 2005 and up mustangs. Hopefully someone will do an in-depth story on how to eliminate it completely and what is the real root cause.

Note: The 2001 IRS mustangs, had a heavy damper bolted to the differential pumpkin. Do the 2015 IRS mustangs have a NVH damper? And if they do not, why don't they have this ?

My DSS custom one piece aluminum DS has a common yoke joint on the trans end and a CVJ on the differential end with the CVJ seeming to be much tighter on the DSS one as compared to the sloppy OEM one. My 2015 OEM DS was the two piece with yoke, hanger bearing, yoke and then CVJ; I can see on it where one of the spot welded balancing weights was ground off. The one piece fixed my problem of vibration and buzzing noise. I previously owned a 2008 GT Vert with manual trans and had no vibration problems what so ever.
