Mines still vibrates after two driveshafts and differential replacement. The only repair left is having the D/S balanced on the car with hose clamps but can't find a dealer who will or knows how to perform this by following Fords instruction. At this point i am disgusted with Ford and am confident this is my last Ford purchase. This vibration defect we are all experiencing should embarrass any auto manufacturer who produces garbage like this.
I'm one driveshaft behind you, but agree with that there should be a repair for this defect. My dealer doesn't know what to do and is waiting for Ford for the next step. I'm sure Ford is trying to isolate the defective part/parts, or combination of parts causing the issue, but it's not affecting every car, so I'm sure it makes it tougher to resolve. Having said that I don't think it's the consumers responsibility and the lemon laws are there to protect us. I had old cars before this, and took a break from the hobby and bought a new Mustang so I wouldn't take time away from my family, and something my wife could also drive. I hope they can fix it, but time is running out for Ford on this one.

For those of you that have had bad issues with this, has anyone done the Steeda alignment kit and did it help? I don't have a bad vibration...slightly noticeable from about 55 to 60 then it tapers off. The Steeda kit seems like just a good thing to have though to prevent slipping (no clue why Ford wouldn't do something like that stock?!) so I am thinking about adding that and the steeda IRS brace.
Can definitely help with that & in the end, you have nothing to lose only to gain!

Best Regards,

TJ

I had the Steeda stuff on mine & while it helped and I highly recommend their alignment kit & IRS braces, I would wait if I were you.

Those were the 1st things Ford pointed to when I brought my car in - gave me the 'it's been modified' excuse for doing absolutely zero for 2 weeks. I had the Steeda stuff removed & of course, the vibration got worse, so back on went my mods. They never did fix my car & I got my $$ back from Ford, but that's a whole different story.

My advice is you pursue Ford to fix the vibration & until you are satisfied avoid ANY mods as Ford is just itching for any excuse to bail on fixing these cars.

I thought about this and was wondering about starting a thread that will list where the s550 where built by VIN . my 2011 Sonata was effected by a recall based on where the engine crank was machined. Maybe we could all narrow this down that way. Being that NOT all are effected. This a link to decode your VIN: http://www.vindecoderz.com/
Mine is Flat Rock Michigan

^^^ All S550s are made in Flat Rock Michigan. But who knows where all the parts are made, and if some of the same parts (ie, drive shafts) could be from multiple suppliers.

Ford is having a new differential built for my car, all new parts. It'll take a few weeks for it to arrive, I'll update once it's been installed.

I noticed a very strange thing. The cold arrived here and the vibration is very soft. After 15/30 min cruising it becomes hard as before...

This doesn't make sense for me.. any idea?

Maybe the rubber material in the driveshaft carrier bearing gets hot from the exhaust system and becomes softer, changing the harmonics if there is any drive line vibration.

The Steeda parts helped with my wheel hop significantly but didn't really do anything for the driveline vibration. Like you said though, good stuff to have regardless.

The parts have to align the problem to fix it, not just brace it. I see a Steeda rep just chimed in here. We're all ears and many of us would be happy to pay for a fix, since Ford will not provide it. But you have to elaborate and someone has to have instructions on the process. I still don't think the issue is nailed down but I am betting movement of the rear end and alignment and maintaining that alignment is a big part of the issue. But still... Why are those hard launching GT's not having the problem and people who baby a V6 like me having the issue. The rear end assembly is the same. The problem spans all models. My example is just showing that power and abuse is not a factor.

I have a different experience, stock shaft was perfectly balanced no issues all the way up to 145 mph, did an n/a build which involved a 1 piece d/s and ford racing half shafts now i have a slight vibration around 70-80 mph which becomes more pronounced when i lift off the gas and coast, then demishes back to slight when the gas is applied. It doesnt bother me because every time i upgraded the ds on previous cars there was always a slight vibration afterwards. However if i go wot all the way to 145 there are zero vibrations all the way through! I'm used to this on highly modded cars and I accept it since i changed alot of stuff!

Well, spoke with the dealership today and was told a new differential was on order. They told me there were three different types of diffs and the one that was in my car was not the correct one. I was aware of the trackpack diff and the standard diff, so what is the other option?

Update for my vibration. Was assigned a case worker and a case number. Have an appointment Monday to see what they can find out. Most likely gonna have to leave it and wait for them to call back.
