Do you experience vibration and rumbling between 50 and 70 mph?

I sent the general manager of the dealer videos from my dash cam of the tech driving my car almost 100mph and two techs and the service director saying they could hear and feel the knock in my engine. Funny he called me right away and set it up for me to bring in the car and they would work on it immediately.

Well, seems I have the same issue. Vibration on the steering wheel, pedal area, and over 80mph on the back mirror too.

I'm in Europe and I bought and imported car. What should I do??

Reading this epic thread seems that there are a good number of people who get the driveshaft replaced that didn't solved the problem and if solved the vibration was back shortly.

Is there a reason because this happens? Engine, transmission, wheels.. seems the ABC for a car producer. Or does ford build toys?

I'd make sure the IRS subframe is aligned properly to start. Then have a good shop or dealer do the on car driveshaft balancing before you start replacing parts.

I installed the Steeda subframe support braces as Curt suggested. They went in without any problems but the vibration is still there at 65+ and when I decelerate from above 70mph back down to 65. The back end feels tight now but the weird thing is that the vibration does not seem to be coming from the rear of the car now but I am not sure if it is from the front or the driveshaft. There is no shake in the steering wheel so it is not the front wheels. Any suggestions on the cause would be appreciated.

Did the braces change the vibration level at all? On my car, the braces mostly reduced the power off vibration which suggests to me that the subframe alignment is moving when you let off the gas.

Have they hooked up your car to the vibration analyzer yet? It will tell them exactly what frequencies are causing the vibration and the component that is causing it- DS, diff, wheels, engine, etc. I was a bit surprised when I pointed out a vibration at a certain speed and the FSE said that it was engine not DS at that speed. So, this stuff is not really intuitive- it needs to be measured by someone qualified to use the the equipment.

While this is not a Mustang drive shaft, its a Ford - probably an F150 and FordTech cuts it open. Cardboard. See it here:
Nothing new about this a lot of driveshafts have this for damping. Guess you didn't know this

I had the analyzer used on my car and they replaced the differential. My vehicle before the analyzer was used already had the wheels road force balanced, two tires replaced, and a new driveshaft. The differential replacement was the part that gave me the greatest drop in vibration during a steady speed but the deceleration vibration was several times worse than the vibration that I was feeling from 65mph on up to over 75. It just seems that the vibration since I installed the bracing is coming from another place and not the rear.

Hi guys, i am newbie here. First time own a mustang. I just bought the 16 mustang v6 couple months ago. It came up with same issue. I did let the dealer know and I have been waiting for my car for 2 weeks. I will be able to get my car done next week. Here is what they did to my car. 1st they are best Ford dealer in my location. They hook up a machine and measure the vibration on entire the car. Thus, they found out the vibration was on the rear and driveshaft. But they said the ratio of vibrations mostly on rear differential. They give Ford a call, Ford calls back and said them go ahead replace the rear differential. Up to now, the vibrations gone for 80% but they still keep the car for replacing new drive shaft. And hopefully it get fixed. I will update asap let you guys know.

But literally we can tell the vibration is from both driveshaft and rear differential. If someone just replaced one of them, it may not solve the problem at all. Make sure tell the dealer at your location.

For those of you having driveline vibrations between 50-70mph, does it matter which gear you're in? Also, can you say what rear axle ratio you have?

No, if it is DS or related, it won't matter what gear- even neutral as the car rolls through the speed range.
