Do you experience vibration and rumbling between 50 and 70 mph?

Yep, drone is drive line related. At 60mph where it is most apparent I drop to neutral and silence, put in 6th and hummmmm. Did this at least 5 times and it is definitely still there.
But if there is no hum or vibration while coasting in neutral at 60 MPH then how could it be drive line related? The whole drive line, differential and axles are all turning while coasting at 60 MPH.

Maybe it's your transmission when under load? Or maybe there is some noise induced vibration from the exhaust system.

Well I took the car in today mainly to get my tint done and to document a bumper alignment issue and also the vibration. Service advisor said he had not heard of it before (possible, it's a small town) and that I would have to make an appointment to have the mechanic he has who does this stuff ride with me, so OK. I understand that. He was elbows deep in some transmission work at the time. So I will go back NEXT sat and see what he says. My Sales guy rode with me and admitted he felt something, but was not sure. I know what he was doing. I would have done the same in his shoes. I'm no jerk, I appreciate everything they do and know they didn't make the car but still, sometimes these dealers think every customer is crazy (some are), but we all know I'm not crazy. If it can be improved, I would like it so cause it's the only thing that's keeping me from totally loving this car. I test drove one months ago and it was silent. As a previous Acura owner, during the test drive I was driving calmly, listening and feeling. I could care less about the power. I knew it was sufficient. I wanted to know how smooth and refined it felt, and that one which was just like the one I bought was perfect. So mine should be too. Is that too much to ask? I'm thinking I need to contact the service rep here so he/she can at least get me escalated so I don't get treated like a crazy person. I even have a paint drip which I'm gonna let slide cause it's not worth the paint work to fix, but none of the Japanese cars (or my F-150) ever had a paint drip, never heard of such a thing on a new car. Heck, leave the bumper crooked I'm still fine, but vibration? Come on, help me out? Tell me you can't fix it, but don't tell me I'm crazy.

This dealer I bought from is 45 mins away but I bought from them so I think they would be more apt to care to fix my problem then a closer dealer, so I'm going there first. Have not done the survey yet, don't want to hold them hostage with it. They may not be able to fix it and that may not be their fault, but I expect them to at least try. I'll take it to an independent shop in the end if I have to. But I shouldn't have to fix it on my dime. It's a NEW car. IF a 97 F-150 V6 cheap ass truck rolled down the highway like a Cadillac, this should too.

What did you buy? Your profile still says 05 Acura...
They can fix it. You might need to go to a big dealer or get the field service engineer involved since the small dealers rarely have the vibration equipment, but they can fix it.

Sounds like you may be experiencing normal feedback from the road surfaces you're driving on, and not necessarily a vibration. You bought a Sports Car, not a fake luxury car (Acura) or a truck (F-150). It's going to ride much differently than either of your previous vehicles; it's due to the low profile tires, stiff springs, firmly tuned suspension dampening, and high durometer bushings.

Have you compared your vehicle with similar units to see if it's specific to your car? I hate to break it to you, but sports cars don't "roll down the highway like Cadillacs". It's an entirely different type of vehicle. Trucks ride nicely because they have high profile tires and soft dampening.

As far as the paint drip, that's a common factory defect on a vehicle from any manufacturer, and one of the reasons that new cars come with a warranty. Have the dealer refinish it and make it right. Like you said, that's the reason you bought a NEW car.

Shahram72,

I've owned four Mustangs, as well as four European sports cars over the years, and I also have a 2013 F-150 XLT Supercab with an eight foot bed.

I fully agree with FordTechOne's observations and comments--he's right on it. I never by a used sports car or used truck for a variety of reasons; I always buy them new.

As for my experience, the Ford people stand behind their vehicles better than any manufacturer on the market. I feel very confident that they will take very good care of you and your Mustang, as they've taken very good care of me, and the cars and trucks that I've bought from them over the last 50 years.

Thanks for the feedback. I got a 2016 V6 with automatic and Foundry package that indeed has hard 18" tires. At first I drove it for a while to make sure that I was not indeed, just feeling the road surface, but the vibration is pretty much the same on all surfaces whether ribbon smooth or worn. Of course rough roads drown it out. It is exactly as described by other members here, so if it's my imagination, then it's others as well. It very well might just be the tires, but I don't think so. I'm more than willing to pay an independent shop for a diagnosis. I've owned/ridden in many other sports cars, many with lower profile tires than this that indeed did not vibrate AT ALL at normal highway speeds. It's a shame the vibration is at it's peak at my favorite speed, 65mph. I sent a PM to DEysha, hopefully he/she can help out. This can't be normal and they can't all do this. I'm sitting up here at 3am typing this because I can't sleep and stressing out about something I swore to myself I would not do. Sometimes used cars are better, you're more forgiving of their shortcomings.

I did drive another identical model at another dealer months ago and I only gunned it once cause the sales guy said to. I didn't care about any of that. I was driving it slow on roads AND highway to see how comfortable and smooth it was. And it was, I was very impressed. I raved to all my friends how refined the new Mustang was, and is. And I get mine and it does this. IF it's not there then I need to check myself into the looney bin because I have tried to ignore it but it's there clear as day. Not hearing voices yet so I'm not quite there yet... Hopefully I can get some sleep tonight. It's not the car keeping me up, but it's not helping.

I think I'm not the only who feels this, but this is more than a car to me. It's performance (or lack of) has nothing to do with it. It's a return to my car guy roots from my youth that I thought was gone long ago. The car I was previously considering was a Honda Accord. Mine may not be much to some, but it's a dream to me. I never owned a Mustang before, My last sports car was a 1991 Dodge Stealth and that was a long time ago. There was a time, not to long ago when I thought I would never be able to buy a nice car again, let alone a new one. I've been through unemployment, underemployment for many years, and survived cancer. Seeing this car in my driveway was so much more than a new car in the driveway. I'm willing to bet I was more excited than some GT owners. So believe me I've been through enough to keep this in perspective. I just want mine to operate like all the others do. Sorry to be so wordy, trying to get to sleep. Good night, or Good Morning!

First thing I'd have the dealership do is check the tire balance and wheel/tire run-out with a road force balancing machine. Start with the easy stuff and eliminate the wheels & tires out of the equation.

Yes, you are correct based on my wording. I meant to write drive train which includes the transmission.

I was going down hill so while in gear there was little if any throttle input so I'm leaning away from exhaust and there wouldn't have been much load on the transmission either.

I'll determine over the next few weeks if its something I can live with or not.

Thanks for your input, it's appreciated.

Deysha - any word from the Engineering Team??
These things take time, Cobra Jet. I understand this has been frustrating and lengthy for a lot of you. Please know, they are aware, so please continue to work with your dealers. Any updates, such as TSBs will be sent directly to them.

You are jumping way ahead. The first thing you have to do is get the service tech to admit there is vibration. ...

PM Deysha after you schedule your service

My wife's car was taken in 2 days after we bought it and it has now been 6 months we have been making payments on a car that we got to drive for 2 days. I hardly consider that being impatient. Ford is seriously dropping the ball on this vibration issue and are not even trying to make it right. We have been told several times that a buyback was being processed only to find out that was a lie and nothing has been done.

?????? Only drove it 2 days and dealership has the car for 6 months I don't believe this one.

I should be mad too car sitting in garage since late Oct because of winter plus making payments. Mine has that slight vibration and droning sound too. I'm not going to jump to every mustang forum huffing and puffing and sit there guessing it everything under the sun that's the cause. Every owner who does have issue screams every car has same problem and no one cares about it. Think problems can be solved as fast as snapping your fingers. I've chased vibration issues they can lead you to strange things you would never would have thought it would have caused it. How about chasing electrical issue there fun too. I like telling people this come on over show us how it's done always get stupid look from them why because they have no clue what to do.

I did have weight's come off front wheel that was part of vibration. But I knew something else was wrong because it got worst one day and feeling it in steering wheel

Other thing I'm tech too for truck dealership so you fail to see my point of view.

I agree that finding the source of a vibration is difficult (BTDT). People are most upset at the attitude being displayed -- by dealers and techs, and most of all, by Ford. Things such as "it's not that bad", "vibe, what vibe?", "it's perfectly normal for a car to vibrate this way", "don't you remember the 1960's cars that were so much worse?". That attitude followed by a "we'll eventually figure it out -- trust us" toward a customer who just shelled out $30-$50k for a car from a company who has previously hidden deadly problems, is what has most of us the most pissed off.

That's because so many are soooo impatient they want it fixed as of 2 days ago. Then go online stomp there feet and pout

I used to be an F-16 aircraft tech, so understand your point of view, and also worked with Army Aviation where they achieve outstanding results with vibrations. I have a number of former techs who used to work for me who had the same attitude toward addressing customer problems. Fortunately, I have a much higher percentage of current employees (many of them techs) who continue to thrive due to a much more positive attitude.

They have acknowledged it's an issue & are taking what seem to be reasonable & logical steps to resolve it.

Ford Service has also been in touch after each visit and are (I presume) keeping track of what steps the Dealer is taking & if the issue has been resolved.

Fingers crossed the new DS will be the "cure" for my car !
Good luck. Any update?
