I think you have some good points. I bought a 2015 v6 on a whim last summer because I wanted to be budget oriented. However, I wanted a GT.
I regretted the decision ever since and desperately wanted out of the car. I ended up getting a great deal on a GT and am selling the v6.

The point is budget oriented or not always buy what you want if you're making a purchase. I know a lot of people are money conscious and there isn't anything wrong with saving or being tight (I'm fairly conservative) but when it comes to a car I have to drive every day, a car I have to clean and a car I have to pay on every month. I find it's better to go with what you want rather than pinching pennies. Plus, if you have the credit to get a good interest rate then your talking a separation of 100-120 bucks a month (maybe) from base v6 to loaded GT. You'll be more willing to pay a note in something you find valuable. My v6 was cheaper, but I hated paying it...The GT is a little more, but I couldn't care less, because I enjoy it.

The V6 is going to drop in value quick, mine dropped almost 8grand in value over an 8 month time span...
The car note was of no consequence.. the difference between a GT and my EB would of been about $40 per month with my credit score and down payment.. the problem was that the insurance quotes I got was more than the car note itself, that is F-ing ridiculous. I can not pay that much in insurance.. it's not an asset that will have some value, it's flushing money down the toilet in case I get into an accident at which point they wouldn't even cover the cost of the car, just it's current market value which of course will depreciate.

As for the MPG discussion, the EB is great if all you do is highway driving or live in a rural area.. in the city, bumper to bumper light to light you WILL be in boost a lot whether you drive fast or conservatively. At best I can muster 18mpg max driving like an old lady.. usually however I'm around 10-12mpg.. no bs.

Was the insurance note that bad? i was at $84 when I had the EB and $96 for the GT. No tics or accidents though and I'm over 40 years of age.

I wanted power, didn't want to mess with the EB and every dollar towards the GT was worth it.

Yes.. I'm at $1,291 every 6 months for this EB.. GT was literally double that.. Even if I could afford it (I could but it would be a stre:bolt:tch) I'd have to be pretty dumb to spend that much on car insurance..

I guess my car is more valuable than my life.. Lol. I got $200,000 in life insurance for like $10 a month..:p

Damn, that is crazy ridiculous! ~$400 a month is okay if you're 18 years old or so. Not sure how old you are but that's a lot.

Well, with AAA or State Farm they wanted $140 a month for the EB.. with 21st Century who is backed by State Farm, it almost dropped in half.

I would check around...

Sure, I can tune the EB, kill the warranty, do other things but it will never replace a V8. The raw power in stock form from the GT is just, irreplaceable.

Hang in there.. I know when I had the EB, every start up video on youtube with the GT had me cringing. I felt that every car payment was worthless

Licensed 11 years, no tickets, no accidents, 27.

It's mostly to do with the area I live in.. being in the middle of a populated city and all.. I have a friend who bought a new Challenger SXT Plus, he's 1 year older, licensed 12 years, no tickets, has CDL's Class A,B + Hazmat.. pays $15 more per month for insurance than I do Lol.

I went through the same situation deciding which mustang I wanna buy in the past years and I end up getting a v6. I can afford a GT but when I figured that the insurance is gonna be more than my monthly payment for my car, I just backed off as it will make no sense lol.

However, if you do want a v8 or think that you would eventually get a V8 in the recent years, don't hesitate and just get a GT. No matter what you get at the moment, you might just trade it in for a GT sometime and lost quite a bit of money when you do so. SO you would be better off just getting a GT at the first place to save money.

If you are deciding between ecoboost/v6 though, I would say get the v6. In my case, the dealer just don't have any v6 with manual transmission in stock and I actually have to order one and the pricing is not that good. I actually got the opportunity to get an ecoboost with auto transmission at 30k CAD and I still said no cause I just think that it makes no sense to get an ecoboost (no disrespect to the owners). I agree that ecoboost has way more aftermarket support and modding potential than the v6. You can spend like 1000 bucks and gain 100 lb/ft of torque and like 80 hp which is indeed amazing but you would lose your warranty. Since we are buying new cars here, it makes no sense to buy a new car and just voids its warranty for some modding potential. At least I buy new cars for its warranty and its hassle free ownership (for the first couple years i hope).

Also, v6s are damn fun to drive in its own way and revving out the engine is hella fun. For you guys at the states you can get pretty good deal on v6s and lets say you can save 3k from getting a v6, spend 1k on some drone-free borla exhaust, 2k on some wheels/tires you like and in my case, pick up some base GT brakes, you get a nice looking mustang that keeps all the warranty and is fun to drive.

Unless you are blasting away from every stop it should be quite easy to drive in bumper to bumper in the city without going into boost. I don't drive a lot in the city but when I make a trip into Boston I have no problem keeping up with traffic without going into boost.

Check that insurance again, that's crazy, I pay right around a $1000 a year for my new ecoboost in spite of totaling a car 5 months ago, however haven't had ticket in 4 years and I am middle aged.

Yeah, I get that. I'm a State Farm agent and here in LA rates can be extremely high. Louisiana has the highest rates in the nation. My insurance had only jumped up 15 bucks (I don't get any type of discount). But regardless of what company you're with I'd shop rates if I were you.

I recently switched my parents to USAA from State Farm, lost business, but it was more beneficial for them. They saved right at 70 bucks a month. My advice is after 4-5 years with a company you need to be shopping rates, these "discounts" they throw at you a lot of times are nothing more than gimmicks.

Louisiana is insane for insurance. When I was 23 years old I had a 350Z in Louisiana and I paid $450 per month for full coverage. Now I'm 34 and live in Georgia and I pay $510 for six months of full coverage on my V6 'vert (with about the same performance).
