I had only driven a 2019 Premium 401A when a friend allowed me to take it for a ride up and down Cape Cod canal. It had everything I wanted and found my car a couple of weeks later after trying repeatedly to order a 2023 and getting bumped out of the order for whatever reason. Maybe if a Mach1 was available to drive it would be in my garage but I am not racing and never experiencing different packages now would be a bad idea. I would invariably find flaws in my GT and I am really happy with my car.
I like driving a stick and 450hp is plenty for this old guy.
Whatever you are looking for, you will find skewed nimbers for one reason or another whether it is low mileage or not depends on where you look also. I believe climate will dictate that but it is just a wag on my part.
Now that I own a Mustang, I see them everywhere. A small used car dealer near me had two snakes and three Mach1s on the lot in late March from 2019 to 2022. All but one was an automatic if I remember correctly.
When I go to Carlisle I plan on doing a lot of eyeballing and picture taking. I would bet there will be a bunch for sale in the corral.
Sorry if this is a bit of a drift.

LOL okay now we have to know, where are the cars?? Did the guy ever sell them? Any of them get repossessed yet by the bank?
He did keep one for himself. The others, I'm not sure. I'll ask my dad for an update.

Not really. It's was $15k difference between my gt vs mach 1. For that extra $15k I can buy another car!
For that 15k less you got completely base car, though? Hardly comparable. But if you don't need performance behaviour (or you'll heavily modify it with aftermarket parts) then it's fine for you.

A GTis just a GT. This car is way more special, I had a GT but this FJG HP is something else.
My GT, after I was done with it, was definitely not ā€œjustā€ another GT. In fact, the combination of well thought out and cohesive upgrades from FP made it into something the factory should have but didn’t offer. If I didn’t get my Mach, I would still be very happy with my 2016 GT.

the way I was ordering a GT which was unavailable and the M1 I got was about $4K increase.
A no brainer!
M1 is a 6 speed, 700a car.
BTW, I d have been happy with the GT, a fine car and I don t track (MY car), LOL.

ordering the gt or the M1 was way less than 15K difference.
With the A10, a Mach 1 Premium is only ~3K more than a 401A GT w PP, MR, AE (which is close to a Mach 1 without the cooling and some suspension tuning and bigger sways) assuming you can get comparable pricing vs. invoice for either. Of course if you don't want PP, MR, and AE then you save a lot more vs. a Mach 1- it's a 15K difference vs a 301A without those options.

I know this because was tempted to order a Mach 1 vs the 400A GT PP w/MR and AE I bought, but didn't really care much for the decals and digital dash... and if I get enough seat time doing HDPE that I can go fast enough to hit the thermal limits of a PP GT, I consider my performance driving goals met.

yes agreed. I wasn’t meaning to bash the GT, I just really liked the M1 package. I loved my 14GT

I could have ordered a mach1 in Dec of 2020 for MSRP but got a good deal on my loaded PP2 which I still like and you don’t see many at. A12k price difference.

Well, take your GT out on a track and when the differential and transmission overheats after the first lap, come back and tell us all how the additional cost of the MACH1 isn’t worth it. I prioritize performance features even if I don’t frequently use them.

Do you track your M1 ?
The 15/17 mt 82 have good ratio and do not overheat doing open track, even in triple digits weather
As for the differential it is a well known fact that using 75/140 and wrapping the pipes around the differential completely solve that issue
Not talking w2w here
The M1 is a very nice car but way too many owners believe that they have an exotic car… even faster than a gt350… right.. please…..
I love the way some people repeat hearsay and present them as facts

What is the best stock manual Mustang for the track? Can a stock GT350 beat a stock Mach 1 or (theoretically) a Dark Horse? This is assuming the GT350s engine doesn’t blow up before the checkered flag (kidding, or am I?).

I always thought that anyone with S550 would be silly to buy Mach 1. If you have some handling issue, you can solve it with aftermarket and that's it. Even the stripes :giggle:

Mach 1 is a great buy for those who didn't have S550 before because you don't really need to tweak it (it's maxed out already) - not the suspension, airbox, coolers, brakes, transmission. It has active exhaust, magneride and some other things you can't have that easily but perhaps you don't need them, even for track. Keep your good looking S550, that's the right way to do. Especially the PP2, unless you really want the Tremec and the coolers.

I’m legitimately curious. I’ve heard a lot of conjecture, but not a lot of actual back to back, same driver, different car, lap times on stock cars.

Ok, let me try to answer
Stock for stock:
350R
350
M1 handling package
Pp2
M1
Pp1
Gt

Now my 17pp1 with power pack 2, ford racing track suspension kit, camber plates, harrop oil cooler. Apex 18x11 and squared 305 nt01, is as fast or faster than a R
Driver make a huge difference too
As well than tires, therefore the stock car with the stickier and wider tires has a good chance to also be the fastest
