Kelsey Hayes Mach 1 rim - was this the rim Ford Designers used for the M1 HP?

So came across this original Kelsey Hayes advertisement for the “Strippers” rim sold back in 1970 for the Mach 1…

IMO, the pattern looks very similar to the new S550 Mach 1 rim…

Was that old KH rim an inspiration for the new S550 Mach 1?

That's a pretty distant resemblance. HP basically comes from the 5 Y-spokes (like PP2 has) with additional smaller Y's inbetween.

Odd that it was never mentioned during the unveiling if they did indeed take inspiration from that wheel. Then again, very few working at ford in the engineering dept were even alive in 1970

I have only seen a few KH cars in person. Like the Holman Moody cars, very special cars.
