UPDATE: They said fitment only

So I contacted BORLA (via email) about some measurements on the switchfire for the M1 as I’m thinking about getting one, There reply was

My apologies, but the SwitchFire actually isn’t for the Mach 1, only the regular Mustang GT. We are currently working on solutions for the Mach 1 vehicles, but haven’t finished them yet. Stay tuned, and thank you for your patience.

obviously there have been some people install them already but just found it odd. I’m waiting on a reply as to why but I’m guessing they are trying to get it dialed in based on the Machs exhaust sound 🤷🏻‍♂️

They won't make any changes for just the Mach1, it just means they haven't officially test fit it. It will bolt in fine as its the same exhaust as ever other 5.0.

I just wrote Borla and asked about a resonator to replace the stock res. I mentioned the Switch fire and received the apology memo as well.. After seeing so many Mach 1 /SF installed I didn’t think there was an issue. They didn’t address the res. question so I wrote back.. we’ll see what comes of it I guess.

I just got a second email from Ryan at Borla…. He seems really, really confident Borla makes no Switchfire or other resonator for the 21/22 mach1. said they must be altering them to fit… just saying..
I’ll wait or maybe do a Steeda H instead…

I wonder if Borla plans to tune the SF pipe differently for the Mach 1? That might be interesting…

Installed without any problems both on factory manifolds and kooks long tubes.

Other than the axle-back mufflers, what are the other differences between the GT and Mach 1 exhaust systems?

I'm going to do the 3" lead pipes to the 3" Borla Atak from my Kook's green catted headers. I think I read they'll have to be trimmed some to mate up with the Borla.

That is pretty much what @PBM457 did.
The GT 500 cat back. I am sure the Atak is very loud.

Yeah, I'm afraid it might be too loud and I'll have to swap out the switchfire for something muffled in the center area that doesn't disrupt the flow.

The craziest thing I have found is in normal mode at a moderate acceleration right around 2700 it barks. It’s not overbearing, however I would love to eliminate that. Only in normal mode in sport it does not but volume increase is substantial. I have pondered some resonators or even the Borla idea of some tuned pipes. Where they add smaller pipes in the larger ID pipe. But haven’t made it there yet. I get all kind of complements on the sound of my M1. For me the only thing that keeps it from being perfect is that small bark for about 750 rpm.

Yeah, that's what most headers do with these cars. The only solution really is resonators somewhere.

You could try the Borla resonator if the SwitchFire is too much. it’s made to fit all their systems. I’ve heard it’s not overly restrictive but I don’t have actual experience with it
