Everyone seems to forget that unless those Teslas are at 80% charge or more they do not have the same performance as we read about.
Marginally. A plaid at 100% vs a Plaid a 50% is like .2 difference in the 1/4..

-Waits for everyone to bring random reasons and excuses why teslas being fast in a straight line is unacceptable or dumb.

All dynos are different but I would guess you need about 850-900hp to go as fast as a Plaid. They trap over 150mph.

I got my tail handed to me by a Tesla Plaid at the drag strip. The Tesla trapped at 152 mph. I didn’t talk to the guy afterward, but have no issue admitting that the race wasn’t even close.

My car is a 2019 Bullitt with MT82-D4 btw.

Fast soulless toasters…

Speed without sound just doesn’t do it for me.

Plaids are down right nasty, awesome that you hung with one on 6psi in a 6speed! Your car is moving out!

In before everyone starts crying about Tesla’s not having a soul. šŸ¤“.
It's a one-trick pony, and that trick doesn't make it a driver's car.

But the Plaid has a 3rd motor, and (with correct settings) over 1000hp.
It's also the only Tesla to have a significantly different rear-end gear.
Most Model S have a 9.72 rear end, most Model 3s have a 9.0.
(For the dual-drive cars, Tesla is pretty tight-lipped about the front gear ratio.)
Most Tesla's will leave their efficient RPM range and start losing power around 60 or 65mph...

I don't know what my car does in the 1/4 mile but I can walk away from a stock Hellcat Challenger from a 50 roll.

A Plaid will put a fucking bus or two on me...
...The Model S Plaid has a 5.0 rear-end, and should pull hard past 100mph.

People are paying a lot for that one-trick pony, so it has to do that trick really well.

They make sounds...

When I've seen a Model 3 Performance at an autocross, it made gear noise, and in cornering the tires sounded like when you pull Velcro apart.

Compared to the Corvette in the same class, the Tesla must have made about 2/3 of the noise
and the remaining noises are pretty weird. šŸ˜’

Pulled up at a light first in line in Mexico today, in the middle lane (3 lane road). Had a model S pull up behind me and get on my bumper. Stayed on my bumper when I rolled out and tried to pass on the left so I gave it the beans in low boost and he went too. Pulled to around 100 and he had me by a bumper. At this point I figured it was a plaid and the driver confirmed when we talked at the next light. I should have assumed it was and put it in high boost but oh well. It was fun and he was cool. I was surprised I kept up so well at 6lbs in a stick shift car. Luckily he was behind me. From a dig it would have been over quick! 🤣
Sounds like a model 3 performance. A plaid would massively gap you. But maybe he gave you half throttle?

I’ll clarify then, I need a real exhaust note. Not a golf cart on steroids. That’s all it really is, the electric motor making some kind of gear whine/noise. I need all the sensory stuff: exhaust note, smell of fuel, feel of speed (which the EV’s do have).

I’ve driven a few Mach-E GT’s, it’s really fast as well and it would be a really good commuter car or good for lots of in-city driving. So I’m not anti-EV. But if I’m going to drive a fun sports/muscle car, I want the exhaust note and all the gas car smells and such

Ehh I’d argue its not a one trick pony if we consider its Ring time. Short of people who road race their cars, the plaid performs all around. And those that want to argue against that statement usually don’t even race their cars, they just don’t like being outperformed by a toaster.

Definitely not a model 3 it was a plaid. I'm not a Tesla fan but the difference is obvious. He was even surprised I kept so close. Of course it wasn't a long pull. Like others have said maybe he was in an eco mode or battery was low? Who knows we didn't sit around and cover all the variables.
